I’m trying something new for my comic reviews: Pro’s and Con’s!

Pro

-Another bizarre team up that actually works. No one I know could make Brother Power work in today’s DCU. But somehow JMS did.

-JMS has a great voice for Batman. Eloquent, but can sound a bit of a regular human being when need be. Like how Batman didn’t know whether to refer Brother as ‘IT’ or ‘HE’. Kinda like how Morrison wrote the character during his time on JLA.

-Saiz does an amazing job with the artwork again. Any praise I have given him for two straight issues are practically the same here. Coloring is a highlight though, Saiz does a great job coloring his own work. Yellow, Orange, Blue, and Black are used to fit the tone of each panel.

-It makes me want to see a Brother Power comic…..Well okay maybe not.

Con

-The 60s lingo by JMS got a bit old after awhile. It was an overload when Power shows up in the beginning, but when we see flashbacks….Eh not the best. Not to say it was bad, but I just couldn’t really feel like I was in the 60s with those moments.

-The dredlocks! Oy I dont think anyone knows how to draw dredlocks in comics. That was my only problem with Saiz’s art, the hair for Power looked iffy.

Not pick of the week for me again, but still a soild title all around. It’s quickly becoming my favorite series, even with Batman and Robin/Hercules being around longer then this new era of Brave and the Bold. If JMS can keep these team ups working (and fresh) then it will be my favorite series period.

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 5 - Excellent
