A solid issue. Nothing too revelatory…

The scarab’s pre-Jaime history is interesting, but ends up not being all that relevant to Jaime’s current situation.

Turns out, the scarab had a key role in the birth of the Aztecs (Quetzlcoatl, anyone?). The whole scarab-throughout-history felt a little Forrest Gump, if you remember that bit.

Not bad, the art was great, as always.
*SPOILER*

The best part of the issue is finding out on the last page that Jaime’s dust up with OMAC has put him in deep space….in REACHWORLD. Now that should be cool.

Story: 3 - Good
Art: 5 - Excellent

Comments

  1. I would buy this book in a heartbeat if the Blue Beetle was Ted Kord. It would have made a much more interesting character to have perennial loser and former Blue Beetle, gain access to incredible power. I think it sucked when they killed him.

  2. I’m with you–but in full disclosure, I read the weekly 52 series only last year, the one that featured Ted so strongly.

I didn’t really have a huge history with BB before the New 52. The reboot is what got me back to reading comics after 20 years away.

    But I feel you…
