Dear Peter Tomasi:

I’m sorry that you’re under Geoff Johns’s shadow during your Green Lantern Corps/Blackest Night run.  I love Geoff Johns’s work, and think he’s one of the premiere writers in comics right now.  But I think the work you’re doing is just as important, and, in many ways, more focused and emotional.  Your dialogue is always tight, and the artists that you work with really bring your characters’ inner-feelings to the surface.

Your Batman and Robin (Grayson/Wayne Jr.) interaction is right on par with Morrison’s at his best.  Their discussion about the possible use of firepower was perfect.  And, in one tiny panel where Ardian Sayaf has Batman turning to admonish Robin with a smirk. their entire relationship was perfectly encapsulated in a way I have not seen it expressed in any of the other titles.  It says wonders for both your script, and for Syaf’s artwork.

I wish both of you (and all members of your creative team) the best of luck with the rest of the event, and hope your name is splashed all over the next big DC event.

Your fanboy,

Akamuu.

  1. Wow this is like alove letter to Peter J. Tomasi.

    It’s beautiful Akamuu.

  2. Tomasi has been doing a pretty good job lately. I’m not familiar with too much of his other stuff, so I’m not sure if his stuff is usually good or not.  The Mighty started out with a BANG, it got boring though.  The Outsiders was good last month, so was the last month’s issue of GLC. I might get this month’s issue now too because I’m loving Blackest Night Batman. This might be my Pick Of The Week but I want know until I find copies of the Vertigo books that were on my pull list.

  3. I’ve been reading Tomasi since he got on Nightwing, through the end of that title.  Started on GLC at #33.. his writing is really strong and I’ll say it again- I’d love to see him on the main Batman book.

  4. Thanks, Amircat.

@ robbyd & JMS74, I’m going to go back and read some of his older stuff.  I’ve been loving The Mighty & these titles.

  5. Both his BN comics killed this week. I having a picking which issue I liked better.

  6. I just started picking up his Outsiders.
