Alright I gotta get this off my chest. Sam Kieth is not a good writer, or at least not a good Batman writer. This isn’t the ‘worst’ Batman story I have ever read (there’s a too many too count) but this felt like a chore to read. He rambles too long with characters and I still don’t see what the ultimate message he’s trying to give us in this. If it’s about fate or how Bruce doesn’t like guns; then we’ve seen that story a million times. By the time I got to the end of this I just thought to myself: ‘That’s it? What is making me want to buy another issue?’

Then it hits me that I only picked this arc up for the amazing Kieth artwork. There are just so many great panels in this I don’t know where to start. How about the two pages of seeing a huge, and amazingly detailed head of Batman? Or seeing the long cape in the background in many of Kieth’s drawings? Even if the ending confused me I can say that they were gorgeously layed out and designed. If anything, get this arc for the art and nothing else.

I think I’ll just ignore the writing for the last issue and just feast my eyes on the gorgeous artwork. It probably would be for the best.

Story: 2 - Average
Art: 5 - Excellent
