Batman number 12 reads like a race car in first place only to crash towards the end, ending up in second place instead. Scott Snyder tells an amazing story as always paired with great art by Becky Cloonan that fits perfectly for the kind of tale that Scott Snyder is weaving. Then the crash happens. Towards the last couple of pages of the comic James Tynion IV comes in as co writer and Andy Clarke takes over the art and because the art and writing styles are so very different then Scott’s and Becky’s writing and art that you are thrown completely out of the story, and it is only till you recover from the jarring experience of a complete stye change over can you press on to finish line of the great story being told.
