I’ve never read a Batgirl issue, but I always enjoyed the Clayface episodes in the old animated series. Naturally when I saw the awesome cover by Stanley Lau, I knew I had to read it. I was immediately drawn in by Stephanie Brown’s cute and witty banter, both as herself and as Batgirl. Once the book really got rollin I was instantly reminded of what made the old animated series so much fun, quick pace storytelling balanced by both action and dialogue. The final action panel was amazing as Batgirl froze Clayface with her “Icer-ang.” The only issue I had with this book were the confusing word-ballons any time that Batgirl and Proxxy exchanged words. I fund myself having to re-read the panels a couple of times just to make sure I knew who was saying what. I have only been reading comics since 2005, and I don’t have that keen eye for art that most veterans have, however I absolutely loved the art in this book. It’s been a while since I had a back issue hunt, but it looks like now…It’s on!
