This book is just a boatload of fun. Kelly does a fantastic job of making these ridiculous characters — a werewolf with a drinking problem and a filth-spewing dwarf — really come to life. In the middle of action and horror inspired storylines, with people being literally torn asunder, the main duo come across as both charming and warm, with a deep affection for each other. That is an impressive balancing act that probably could not have pulled off without the art from Greco, who does quite an admirable job of putting an entire complex range of emotions on the face of a dog (Luckily, dogs have eyebrows to work with). Greco also really stepped it up this issue for the vampire sequence, which was jaw-dropping gorgeous in a skin-crawly, undead kind of way.

Looking for something more than swearing, drinking, and killing? There is no pleasing some people, but don’t worry. There is a strong story flowing underneath the debauchery, which Kelly is slowly revealing bit by bit. There is a reason this unstoppable killing machine is trying to drink itself to death in the borderlands of Arizona. Not for the easily offended, but if you can handle a panel or two of a pile of insanely disturbing “marital aids” then welcome aboard the Bad Dog.

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 5 - Excellent
