I am on this ride just to see where it goes. That may not be rational but sometimes even a poor story can keep your attention if it goes off the rails in interesting ways. And thus we have this. I have no idea how to think about Cyclops et al being taken by the Phoenix. I figured it wasn’t Hope because there has been tons of foreshadowing recently but being surprised doesn’t translate into it being a good plot point. My first thought upon seeing them, somehow, change clothes and fly away, was “That’s weird.” And it is. Also weird, the first fight between Wolverine and Cyclops has no emotional depth at all, Iron Man builds a giant Voltron-looking suit, and there’s a montage around the world that just screams: Read the tie-ins.
As for the art, I’m not a Romita fan and I don’t get his style but there are several panels here were it seems very rushed and sketchy.
This book isn’t a smart read or a good one but it is oddly compelling.

  1. I can’t say why i’m still reading this book, is garbage, but maybe i’m curious to see where it’s leading. Also, the giant Iron Man design is really poor.

  2. Me personally I really liked this one I’ve been really excited about this whole series and, in my opinion, this book delivered. The ending has me really excited about the rest of the series
