I haven’t been reading The Avengers Initiative title since their third issue or so.  The characters hadn’t really resonated me.  So I picked this up with a certain amount of not really giving a (insert favorite obscenity here).

The characters in this issue seem to be different than the ones I barely remember from the beginning of the series.  I didn’t remember their names, their powers, their relationships…but it didn’t matter.  Gage seamlessly weaves an introduction to these characters into the plot during the opening few pages, and the story just looped itself around my brain and followed it around, even during the next few comics I read.

The Slott story was also intriguing.  And, I thought was a better fit with Uy’s artwork.  I definitely plan on picking up some back issues tomorrow.
