Robert Kirkman’s Astounding Wolf-Man has now become one of my favorite series on the stands! Yes in 7 issues alone (most of them mediocre) he has captured me.
This has been a meandering book at best being very bland and slow in pace, but all that ground work has finally paid off!
The family dynamic in this book is where the goods are hidden as Kirkman explores the drama of dealing with this new life stile. Family drama has always been Kirkmans strong point, it shows in Invincible and the Walking Dead and it is finally coming to bare in this book. Despite the writing being hard to get into at the beginning the art has been consistently fantastic. It has a clean strong feel to it and flows well, wile being cartoonish it still coveys a ton of emotion in its simplicity particularly at the end of this issue.
The shocking end to this book is what really shows Kirkmans skill as it takes it to a whole new level. I don’t won’t to spoil much but here is an overview. Someone dies and changes everybody’s relationship and I mean everyone! Setting a new status quo that laves me wanting more as a good issue should.
If you haven’t been reading this or have given up after a couple of issues I strongly urge you to pick this up wile it’s early in the run. There will be a trade soon collecting up to this point that I recommend.
If you love Invincible and Walking Dead then you have no reason not to pick this up, as it is just as amazing!
Art: 5 - Excellent
to keep the mostly spoiler free review, do you reall think they are dead?
i was waiting every panel after the death for the body to return to life. how cool will that be? 🙂
it has to happen.
levitakis this book left me at the end wondering the same thing and there for wonting to read the next one which a good book should.
I think it will be a very different book if they are dead and also different if they come back. It will be cool if they do come back, the havoc it will create. The possibilities are endless!
