I haven’t read a X-Men book in a long long time. Saw this one on the shelf and noticed Warren Ellis was writing, figured, what the hell, give it a go. I have to say, I was very pleased! I really liked that there was enough of a back story to ensure I was able to keep up with what was going on in the X-Men/Mutant world of things. Thank goodness there is a new X book to read after the agony that was my first attempt, X-Force… OMG will the sting ever leave my eyes!

That’s good to hear! I have mostly been discussing this book with people who were coming to it from the Whedon run — which was very good but also had a very different feel. I’m glad to know it’s a good jumping-on point, too. I really like what Ellis is doing with the character dynamics and I’m looking forward to the story he’s going to tell.
@ohcaroline – I’m working on a theory that you’re Ron in drag.
I thought it was a great issue, it had a lot of humor and that has been in the book before. Loved the scene with Storm and Emma. Unlike Ron I wasnt botherd about the fact that they were already set up in San Fran. We already knew that it was going to be their new base of operation. I dont really think that issue 500 will really give me much more insight that wasnt already in 499. I think people should give it a chance.
@conor What, just because we like the same X-men books? And Matt Fraction? And Morrissey? Okay, this is getting scary.
Look, okay, if I were Ron I would have dropped the Flash by now.
I think I mean, "If Ron were me, he would have –" Yeah, anyway.
