From writer artist Tim Seeley we get the first of a three issue team-up with the new Ant-Man and the former Ant-Man, now The Wasp. As far as I could tell there is nothing wrong with this comic. It’s a pretty solid effort from the guy who is probably best known for Hack/Slash. I enjoy the premise of this comic and I like the writer/artists and I want this book to do well.

There’s something I like about this team-up. I think the combination feels a bit like Blue Beetle and Booster Gold of the Marvel universe, a veritable odd couple. But something about this issue just didn’t quite engage me. The art is good and the characterization of Hank Pym is good, the O’Grady Ant-Man feels a bit over the top in his douche-ness and some of the dialog just doesn’t ring true to me. The art was great and I had a few smirk worthy moments, though nothing struck me as laugh out loud funny.

I think the fate of this book’s quality has yet to reveal itself and while it wasn’t the best comic I picked up this week it was just good enough to make me want to pick up the next issue.

Story: 3 - Good
Art: 4 - Very Good
