As a kid I loved the movie “The Incredible Shrinking Man”. This led to my very first comic purchase. Marvel Feature Vol. 1 issue #5 featuring Ant-Man. Anyone who has seen the cover will get the connection.
Since 1972 I have been a fan of Hank Pym, IMO Marvel has not. The way the character has been abused and misused has been tough to watch.
When the Eric O’Grady comic was introduced I liked it. Irredeemable sums him up pretty well. I lost track of him until Secret Avengers but I liked his portrayal there. I also liked Christos Gage’s use of Hank Pym in Avengers Academy, it seemed Hank was finally getting a bit of love from editorial.

Tim Seeley however in one issue made me wish this was a monthly comic that I already owned a run of.

I have read a lot of opinions and I will only add this.

Hank Pym, this needs to be his status quo. He is mature, smart and effective.
Eric O’Grady, perfect yin to Pym’s yang. He is an ass. An irredeemable self serving buffoon who backs into more heroism than he can achieve on purpose.
Tigra, she fits here. In the wake of Janet’s demise (damn you Bendis) she provides the Nora to the Nick that Pym needs.

I feel like Seeley sent me a Hallmark card here, I think most old Ant-Man fans will. I don’t know Hack/Slash, but Seeley delivers a solid script and great art here.

I can’t wait till the next issue.
