While I’m not to keen on Quesada and company revisiting the least successful storyarcs in the history of Spider-Men, I do like that the end results appear to be writing over the worst aspects of the stories in Sharpie marker.

The story presented in One Moment In Time is much more believable than One More Day.  It’s not flawless, but it’s much easier to go along with.  If this was how Straczynski’s run ended a couple of years ago, I don’t think there would have been any backlash to the whole “magicing away the marriage”.

If I were lending someone a run of Spider-Man comics from the 2000s, I would omit (not a pun) One More Day, and replace it with this storyarc as a bridge between Back in Black and Brand New Day.

  1. There have been three reviews of this issue so far: one very favorable, one average, and one that panned it.  I agree with akamuu’s review the most because I think this is a very strong issue, by far the best of the OMIT issues.  The moments between Peter and MJ ring true.  They feel like moments between two people who love each other very dearly, who have been through many trials in their relationship.  This issue reminds me of why I was so upset when they ended the marriage — Peter and MJ just work so well as a couple.  At the time, I felt they belonged together.

Given the feelings expressed above, I think this issue did the remarkable.  WIthin its pages, you see why they work as a couple, you see why they cannot be together, and you have a moment that frees Peter to move on with his life.  This moment alone is an achievement for Quesada.

I give this issue of OMIT 4.5/5.  (The scenes with Tony, Dr. Strage and Reed were a little weak to me, hence the score.)
