All-New X-Men is the Marvel NOW title that I was most looking forward to, and it did not disappoint.

I found the story to be engaging and the characters to be believable. I don’t know too much about recent X-Men comics, having only recently read Schism and having a vague understanding of AvX and Consequences, but the character relationships seem consistent and realistic.

My lack of knowledge though of recent X-Men comics provokes my one criticism: there isn’t much backstory or exposition provided. They don’t make it clear why the characters are doing what they’re doing. If I have to read recaps from previous works to understand a story, then something is wrong.

But otherwise I enjoyed this very much and look forward to the rest of the series.
