I made it this far into Cornell's run. I should have quit after #900 but it's only a $2.99 book so I said, "fuck it" and just bought the thing anyway. Anybody who reads this thing now won't remember what happened in this issue, or this entire arc, a week from now, but I would be a liar if I told you the comic book wasn't worth reading the one time before it makes its way to the long box forever.
One thing I was wondering when the team of so called superfolks were trying to stop that space vehicle from colliding was how come Superman, or in this case especially Supergirl and/or Superwoman, end up being naked after being subjected to extreme temperatures? The same thing happened in All Star Superman when Supes went to the damn sun!! I know there is no way that thin layer of clothing could withstand that heat without being burnt to a crisp. They really should try to make things more realistic by showing a little skin after being near scorching heat, you know what I mean? Maybe even a little burnt hair here and there just to make things interesting?? I wonder if the creators even think of these details when they right this junk.
I hate to be a spoil sport but there is a tidal wave that nearly collides with Metropolis towards the end of the issue. I was actually hoping that the tidal wave would hit Metropolis and cause a bunch of havoc in the streets in the meantime. That would be a cool cliffhanger leading me to think that #903 might actually be worth my $2.99, but NO, it didn't go down like that. Supergirl, Superboy, and Steel manage to somehow (no much on the details here either) suppress the entire tidal wave with a bit of help from Supes as well!! BOOOOO!! I think a tidal wave in Metropolis story would be a cool way to wrap up the man of steel's summer vacation before the big reboot, but the writers didn't feel the same way. I guess things just weren't meant to go out with a big splash for the man of tomorrow after all? They will probably go out with a boring little whimper instead if this arc keeps going in the same direction it has been heading ever since Supes took his book back from Lex a few months ago.
BOOOOOO!!!!!
