Instead of giving you a full on review of the book. I thought I’d share with you some of my favorite Looney Tunes cartoons. As great as this book is, let’s face it, we all have different opinions on our favorites. So here’s my personal favorite in no particular order.

I Love to Singa: (Directed by Tex Avery) One of the earlier technicolor cartoons by Tex Avery, this one is remembered for being a spoof on the ‘Jazz Singer’. With memorible songs and a wonder cast of characters, it’s one of the few WB cartoons I love without any of the regulars.

Tortoise Beats Hare: (Directed by Tex Avery) This is one of the more underrated cartoons invoving Bugs Bunny if you ask me. I love how they put the twist on the Aesops Fable and just how determined Bugs is to win. It’s actually one of the few times Bugs is a villain in his own cartoon. The sequels, Tortoise Wins by a Hare and Rabbit Transit are also solid cartoons in their own right.

Rhapsody Rabbit: (Directed by I. Freleng) This is probably my favorite Bugs Bunny cartoon or at least my favorite solo cartoon of his. The music is timed perfectly with some of the ridiculousness of the cartoon. Like Bugs playing with his ears or the piano keys moving like a typewriter. I swear this is also a reason why I like classic music more then I should. This cartoon also has the first distinction of being the first cartoon aired on Cartoon Network in 1992.

Rabbit of Seville: (Directed by Charles Jones) Speaking of classical music, yet another classic Bugs/Elmer cartoon based on classical music. I think I just love it for the scene where Bugs rubs Elmer’s head with tonic. It gets me every time.

Rabbit Fire/Rabbit Seasoning/Duck! Rabbit! Duck!: (Directed by Charles Jones) Easily the best Daffy/Bugs team up; these three cartoons have some of the best writing, acting, and animation for Looney Tunes. Whether it’s Daffy accusing Bugs of ‘Pronoun’ trouble, or them reinacting the argument only to see Daffy get shot again makes these some of the funniest cartoons as well.

Duck Amuck: (Directed by Charles Jones) Okay I lied. There is one cartoon that I adore more then anything else in the WB line up. This is easily the best Daffy Duck cartoon but quite possibly the best cartoon period. Charles Jones broke the fourth wall in the opening minute and the wackiness continues from here on out. Mel Blanc does some of his best work here as Daffy is put to extremes from a benevolent animators (the cameo being one of the best things about this). The moment where Daffy is wacked out and hits a missle with a hammer though….that still brings me to tears with laughter everytime I see it.

So there’s some of my favorites Looney Tunes cartoons. What about you guys?
