Pick of the Week Podcast
Show Notes
It’s that time again, time for the San Diego Comic-Con. Coming at you sorta live, from our hotel room in San Diego, Ron Richards, Josh Flanagan, and Conor Kilpatrick struggle to keep their voices and tell you about some of the comics they read this week as well as some quick reflection from the con. Unfortunately, no time for show notes this week but that gives you more reason to listen to hear what’s discussed!
UPDATED! Thank you to Heroville for the show notes!

Thanks Heroville! This helps me prioritize my stack before listening.

Great job, Heroville! My birthday is tomorrow, so I guess this is my gift from you. Thanks!
THANKS!
Good show fellas. This week was a tough one to condense, but ya pulled it off admirably.
We all appreciate you guys making the effort despite the con fatigue. Can’t wait for the video footage.
Enjoy the pool.
thanks guys fpr putting up show in sdcc i think you deserve the comic podcast medal
It’s funny how Marvel has done no announcements for Marvel NOW! at all.
Your ‘not relaunching’ your entire line and we get absolutely nothing on the other books coming out. Maybe they’re saving it for NYCC? I guess that makes sense since Uncanny Avengers will be out by then. Still, not even a tiny hint at what’s to come?
But the 9 million AVX Aftermath books….we totally needed them to be announced.
No Valiant books talked about again? I am beginning to believe that there is a bias against the new Valiant stuff.
Just kidding, guys. Love the podcast and the website. I wait ever Sunday with baited (and bad) breathe for the pick of the week podcast to be available, even though no one seems to like any of the Valiant titles.
I don’t think any of them read any of the valiant books, which is disappointing. I have never even read any valiant books before this relaunch, but I’m loving all of them so far. I wish ifanboy gave them a chance.
I had emailed the 3 guys and Conor responded saying basically that they had read a few of the old Valiant books but that they just were not interested in the new ones. I would have thought they would at least give them a look. The new Valiant stuff is better than 90% of what Marvel, DC or any other publisher is doing (in my opinion).
I’ve read some of them. I didn’t really care one way or the other, and that means it doesn’t make the cut for the show.
Ron touched on it, but the ‘origin’ story of the Walking Dead comic sounds fascinating! is there any place to read more about it, or hear how it all came together in the early days of the comics?
I’ve read a fair amount about Kirkman and I have no idea what Ron’s talking about. Maybe it was supposed to be a secret 🙂
he blabbed! i want full transparency! haha really, it just sounds like a great story.
I think he’s talking about the lie Kirkman sold about the big reveal being aliens causing the zombies which is why they had that joke ending at the end of #75 (or another issue). Kirkman talked about it in one of the earlier interviews; I know know if it was before or after the rainbows.
If you go WAY back to an early podcast (pre-talksplode) I did with B. Clay Moore, he talks about how Robert pitched the walking dead.

I feel like Kirkman told the story in this episode, but I could be wrong:

I can’t believe you guys made time for this amidst the SD madness. Legends, all.
Also Ron, Defenders will be cancelled simply because it’s The Defenders….and it would have been doomed for cancellation anyways even if Jaime was on the book to begin with.
