• LIES! It’s not lovely as they’re being pursued by bad guys and it’s not a day trip as (er) it’s at night.

• A shameless retcon into Marvel Boy’s history!

  1. Loving this series so far, thanks for the POTW for issue #1 for making me try out this new series! It’s full of youth, energy and pop-culture reference, what’s not to love? 😉

  2. I am 19. I love this book.

  3. Each issue of this series has surpassed the one before — that’s gotta stop eventually, right? Anyway, can’t wait to read the latest.

Also, those plot teasers are great . . .

  4. Plus, that cover is fabulous — I love the dynamic energy of it . . .

  5. I’d love to see some annotations similar to what they did in Phonogram. I’m sure they’re jamming to some tunes while writing/drawing this.

  6. Come with me if you want to be awesome.

  7. I liked the previous issues, but this was the one that truly grabbed me. That double-page spread perfectly illustrated why comics is such a unique and exciting medium. Bravo!
It was also the first of this week’s issues and now everyone else has a lot to live up to.

  8. I’m loving this. Can’t understand how Gillen’s hitting it out of the park on this series, but failing so spectacuarily on Iron Man.

    • Since a good deal of the storytelling comes from the artist, do you think it’s the difference between a Gillen-McKelvie team and a Gillen-Greg Land team?

    • @Master Destructo I’d say that’s a good hunch. Comics ARE a visual medium and if the art doesn’t work, chances are the whole book won’t.

Drat. That was a sly rhetorical question, wasn’t it?

    • @pyynk: “that was a sly rhetorical question, wasn’t it?”

ha! Sometimes I can’t tell if my questions are rhetorical either, and this is one of those times!

Wait…was your question about my rhetorical question also rhetorical? And is this question about your question about my question also….*head explodes*

  9. Wow, wow, wow. So many panels of the week:D

My pick of the week, no doubt.

  10. Double page spread was awesome! This series is really hitting all the high points of traditional teen comics, while pushing the art and layout far enough to keep it interesting. Definitely my favorite series on the stand right now.

  11. Should I be reading this book?

I liked the old Young Avengers book… There’s just so many good comics coming out now-a-days, it’s hard to pick which are the best to buy in issue form and which are best to trade wait.

    • Well basically you could trade wait as the first arc is not yet done. But it’s still quite easy to pick up and enjoy month after month! So, the choice is yours… 😉

  12. This was fantastic! Gillen’s dialogue is wonderful, I laugh at least once a page, especially pages with Loki. I can’t say enough good things about what McKelvie and Norton are doing with the art; from panel layouts, to new and interesting storytelling techniques, this book is a visual treat. This was a stacked week, but this book is on the shortlist for POTW for me.

  13. I didn’t think I would even like this book when issue #1 came out but now I would consider it one of my top three favorite Marvel books out right now. Gillen and McKelvie are just such an amazing team!

Also, I think Marvel could easily turn this story into a movie and make a killing at the box office.

  14. This was my first issue of YA and I was very impressed. It definitely feels very current. I will be back next month!
