   I got out of X-Men (the first time) right when this arc was beginning. The fact that it’s 280 pages makes me cringe. I know it seems like it would be interesting, but from what I read it really wasn’t. Things in the x-titles at this point had gotten so much more convoluted than they were even in the mid-’90s. The art seems like it would be interesting, though. Between this and Morrison’s run are a real blank period in my knowledge of X-Men. I am interested in filling it in somewhat, maybe even the Chuck Austen stuff just to see how bad it was, but I don’t think anyone who read this story would say that it’s worth $30.

   So this is X-Men vs. Apocalypse Vol 1–does that mean there’s going to be an X-Men vs. Apocalypse Vol 2?

   This was NOT a good story at all. It had loads of potential but like so many X-men stories during that period it’s rife with editorial interference.  Just like with the X-Traitor storyline, it seemed like Marvel was intentionally reducing the story impact of some of their greatest concepts. This should have been a major storyline, but instead it became just another villain looking to destroy the world arc. Very boring.
