X-MEN PRELUDE TO SCHISM #1 (OF 4)

Before Messiah Complex came Endangered Species.

This is the prelude to the X-Men Event of 2011. What does it mean to be a leader? What does it do to a person? What do the choices you make mean about the person you are?

This mini-series delves into these issues and will give an X-Men reader what they need to know about their favorite mutants before everything changes in July.

  1. I was with you right up until Paul Jenkins.

With apologies to Paul, if he reads this.

  2. Do you need to read this to understand the main schism event does anyone know?

  3. I don’t know for sure, but tend to think that the series itself will be self contained, particularly with a writer like Aaron at the helm.  The above series’ creators don’t float my boat so I’ll be waiting for the main series in july.

  4. Cool beans, thanks, looks like I’ll be giving this a miss too then

  5. Hopefully Ron will bring it up on the podcast.  I am excited for Aaron’s Schism event which almost had me lured in with this, but then they compared it to Endangered Species which I hated, but makes me more excited they compared Schism to Messiah Complex because that was a great time for X-Books, at least for me.

  6. Jenkins is going to have to go on a serious hot streak for me to take any book he does seriously. The stench of Fallen Sun is just too thick at this point.

  7. I keep thinking that’s Quitely doing the cover. But that’s how good Camuncoli art is for this.

  8. Looks like Paul hasn’t really written an X-Men story before, and has been doing steadily less writing for marvel since 2001.  That doesn’t bode well for this preliminary series.

I’m sure I’ll flip through it in the store, but probably won’t buy it unless something awesome pops out…

  9. MAYBE WE WILL FIND OUT WHEN ROGUE BONED SENTRY IN THIS

  10. Talk about vague! What the hell?

  11. Maybe as the first chapter in a trade this would be acceptable; no way I’m throwing down any more money for the second book when there’s nothing of substance in this one.

  12. Seems like I’m the only one who kind of loved this!? I wasn’t expecting to like it but was pleasantly surprised by both the writing and art. Really needs to be weekly if they’re going to hold off on revealing the threat but I liked seeing the relationship with Scott and Charlie, especially as the latter has been seemingly locked in a basement doing nothing for over a year.

  13. I thought this was the best book I read this week…

  14. What the hell are they talking about though? Everyone was being so vague about everything it was like the Matrix Reloaded.

  15. @ResurrectionFlan – Exactly!!  I wondered what it was making me think of – you nailed it on the head.  Talk about filler.

  16. Still don’t know what this is about…
    Frustrating.

  17. This series feels like a blatant money grab. They know they have something that X-Fans are excited about (the Aaron written Schism series) and they toss some “must have” prequel series out, with 4 issues in 4 weeks. All the pre-ordering will be long done before anyone can even start raising a stink about it.
