  1. I could not be more excited about this issue!  I loved the first John Maddox issue, and it’s awesome to revisit him.

  2. Stoked for this.

  3. So I was totally going to drop this book with this issue, but I think I’ll have to check this out.

  4. @zattaric The answer hes looking for will be worth the money for this book

  5. After a rocky few months, Peter David is QUICKLY getting back to form.

  6. take this, ron!! (do snarky challenges to the ifanboy overlords get me banished/murdered?)

  7. Seriously, how can anyone even consider dropping this book after last month? What more could you possibly want?

  8. i am so glad i’m back to being excited for this book to come out.

  9. I’m just hoping this continues in the right direction, and doesn’t dip back into meandering again.

  10. after this i might drop it im not sure…

  11. Now let us all pray that we don’t get cross over issues or artists that have no business working anymore shoved down our throats in the future.

  12. Dear Mr. David,

Thank you for reaffirming my faith in your book. You have given us something we have all been asking for for awhile and in a way that seems to open up so many possibilities. Thank you sir performing quite possibly the fastest turn around in quality a comic has ever seen.

  13. ’bout time!

  14. I think its the time of good X-Factor again.

  15. Can’t wait to read this issue!

  16. Fantastic!

  17. Loved this issue

  18. Why can’t I get the "Welcome Back, Kotter" theme out of my head?

  19. Pick of the Week was INSANELY hard this week…but I gotta give it to Peter David.  Just amazing.

  20. Good stuff but didn’t totally love it.

One main gripe, I don’t need Madrox to be drawn to look exactly like Ryan Reynolds. Don’t need that at all.

  21. Well, it’s about fucking time!

  22. Hm.  Never got that at all.  (About him looking like Reynolds)

Now Norman Osborn as Tommy Lee Jones…THAT I REALLY don’t need.

  23. but ryan reynolds is so dreamy.

  24. My grudging pick of the Week. I love Peter David, I really do. But man, I’m really being left flat by all these twist/shock endings. Especially because we only get a vague (and in some ways, Shallow) reaction to last issue’s twist in this one. I would classify by saying it’s like the Scary Door sequences on Futurama. It parodies Twilight Zone by having the entire story made up of twists endings. Ex: "A casino where I win all the time! I’m in Heaven… A casino where I win every time. I must be in hell!" "NO! You’re on an airplane!" "There’s gremlin on the wing!" "Why should I believe you… You’re Hitler!"

  25. I also can’t wait to read this issue.

  26. @Prax – I think there will be a lot of fallout from last issue to come. This, however, was a Madrox focused issue. When he gets back to the team there will be more. And also, I wouldn’t say it’s shallow for him, since he wants to kill himself over it.

  27. wow…that was an amazing issue…what an ending!!

  28. @Brianmaru My problems lie not in the execution of this issue, but in the overall sense that these three issues are supposed to make up for the last 6-8 months of ilk. However, I thought it would be handled in grounded, thoughtful ways like the Madrox mini or the first few issues of X-Factor. What we got so far are two issues that don’t necessarily play off of each other and just give us shock endings. I *know* this was a Madrox focused issue, but that doesn’t immediately negate the presence/a few scenes with the other members of the team. And that’s where I think the most valuable reaction to the baby will be found. (I honestly thought the big surprise was going to be Maddox was Jamie Prime, I was a little disappointed it wasn’t.)

I didn’t mean Madrox’s reaction was shallow, but the execution of it. I get that Madrox ran away, but perhaps even a minor scene to show the other’s reactions would have been nice. Broke some of the story up more. But alas, we have what we have. And I did enjoy it. Until the shock ending. It’s something I’ve felt coming for a while, and it immediately pulled me out of the story.

  29. Peter David, thank you. Love the faith-broken heart issues in Jamie’s mind, it keeps the character grounded and faithfull to the ideal Madrox i have in my head. This is my pick of the year.

@Parker– "Thank you sir for performing quite possibly the fastest turn around in quality a comic has ever seen."

    Amen.

  30. been awhile since my jaw dropped like it did for this book.  I’m stoked for x-factor again.

  31. In all seriousness, this really is a good book.  If you are even remotely interested, you should pick it up and odds are you will like it.  A book this good has a little something for everyone.

  32. This had just about everything that I like in a monthly comic book.  Decent art that tells the story well, characters that are human and believable despite their superpowers, and dramatic tension that carries well to a cliffhanger ending.  It entertained me but at the same time left me wanting more.  Great issue.

  33. I’m a little confused.  Madrox said Daniel "wasn’t" adopted.  But then why wasn’t he absorbed by John?  Or was a misprint, and should’ve read Daniel "was" adopted?

  34. For that matter, I just looked at my old issue, the first one with John, and Madrox plays with Daniel, touches and hugs him.  If he was John’s kid, Madrox should’ve absorbed him on contact.  So I’m going with a misprint, and Daniel was adpoted.

  35. you were supposed to read between the lines. his wife was a cheating tramp.

  36. Ohhhhhhhh.  That ####.

  37. the last two issues of this have been an amazing return to form for david and this book, and the end was great.
