X-FACTOR #229

X-Men Regenesis

Still reeling from the shocking death of one of their own, how can the X-Factor team possibly take down the one responsible — the deadly Bloodbath? Then, in issue 229: Layla Miller. Jamie Madrox. Husband and wife. Lying murdered in their honeymoon suite. The moment you thought would never come is here, and not only are you a witness to it, but so is Jamie Madrox himself.

We feel safe in saying that this is X-Factor as you’ve never seen them before in the first part of what has to be the trippiest arc in the history of Marvel.

  1. “The moment you thought would never come is here…” You’re not kidding…I’ve been waiting for this plot point to be resolved since…what…the second ever story arc?

  2. Oh god I hope that sexually confused Madrox wont die in the issue. He’s my favorite Madrox dupe.

  3. LOL! Love the cover. There are two things I’ve been waiting for in this book: 1) the return of Damian Tryp, and 2) Rahne killing Jamie and Layla. At least I’m getting the second…

  4. Hard to believe this is the 80th issue in Peter David’s current run. Epic.

    • Umm… aside from Layton in the late 80s/early 90s, isn’t Peter David the only person to write X-Factor? I’m pretty sure that David has done a lot more than just 80 issues with X-Factor.

    • He probably means the 80th issue within this Madrox-led era. I’m fairly certain this got renumbered to #200 after #50 so that adds up. Hard to tell what’s what with this hokey renumbering.

Anyway, I hadn’t thought about that. X-Factor was one of the first comics I picked up when I starting reading regularly a few years back so this series spans my readership. Pretty cool.

    • 80th issue in volume 3 – the current noir/detective iteration. #1-50 in volume 3 which then reverted to the original numbering at #200 up to #229 makes 80. But as far as I know David’s only other run on X-Factor was #70-90. Layton only wrote the first 6 issues of the first volume. There have been lots of other writers. After Layton was Louise and Walt Simonson, then Peter David then J.M. Dematteis, John Francis Moore and Howard Mackie. I’m sure there were probably others

    • Gotcha. I suppose that does make more sense.

  5. I’ve jumped onto X-Factor….. this is my 3rd issue. Its unbelievably brilliant.

    • If you get a chance, pick up some of the trades for this run, they have a lot of character arc building which is up really well worth the read. There is and add so much depth to the characters, and story arcs.

  6. Crisis on Infinite Jamies 😀

    • Haha, indeed. This should be an interesting setup going forward. I assume PAD is going to keep cutting between Jamie’s parallel universe trap and X-Factor getting taken over by Havok and Polaris.

  7. Alternate Jamie kinda reminds me of Legion, with his different powers with each different dupe. It’s fun as hell, and even though I’m going to miss Jamie interacting with the team (which is one of my favorite aspects of this series), I’m looking forward to seeing this adventure that he’s stumbled upon.

  8. I’m sorry, but at the end, that was a Zombie Jamie, right?

  9. God I love this comic … so amazingly good …
