WHAT IF IRON MAN DEMON IN AN ARMOR

Would Tony Stark still be Iron Man…if he wasn’t Tony Stark? Twenty years ago, in a college experiment gone bad, the young Stark’s mind is transferred to the body of impoverished but brilliant fellow student, Victor von Doom! Blamed for the unsanctioned research, his memory wiped clean, Tony is deported and forced to face life as a disgraced Latverian commoner. Meanwhile, von Doom grows and flourishes in the wealth and privilege of being sole heir to tark Industries. Thus, in separate cauldrons on different sides of the world, both Iron Man and Dr. Doom are forged anew. But who are the men inside the armors…really? Find out in ‘What If Tony Stark Had Become Dr. Doom?’

  1. Bob Layton & Rick Remender doing an Iron Man/Dr. Doom story?  Giddy, I say.

  2. What’s up with the title? An armor? Is this a foreign bootleg comic? And yes, I know it’s a riff on “Demon in a Bottle,” but “a bottle” is a thing people say. “An armor” is not.

This looks really good, but sheesh. That title.

  3. it’s “an armour” because that’s how grammar works.

I am also into this title.

  4. cant go past what ifs

  5. Wouldn’t it just be Demon In Armor?  You can only wear one armor at a time. You wouldn’t say, Demon In Armors.

  6. @har13quin: If you’re going to be snide about grammar, please learn how grammar actually works. “Armor” is a mass noun, not a count noun, so giving it an indirect article is incorrect.

  7. This is another title that I might get because of the light week.

David Michelinie and Bob Layton back together to do an Iron Man story? 99% of the time that is good enough for me to pick it up. Then you have Graham Nolan doing the art? It’s like the book is begging me to pick it up.

Oh and it looks like Remender is doing the Deadpool back-up guys. Which is on part 4…..not sure how since it looks like this is the first I’m hearing of the back up.

  8.

I think the “4” is a mistake because this has to be the first one because they only come out every december and this is the first week. on another topic, i can’t wait for what if? # 200 next week

  9. @ Maybe the first three parts were the Deadpool book that’s going to be cancelled in the future? That seems like kind of a waste of time travel to me, but whatever floats Marvel’s boat. 🙂

  10. The cover of the issue clearly shows “1 of 4” on it. I’m sure the solicit is the typo.

  11. @sakuuya Did you really just write that? Congratulations, you totally out wankered me.

Anyway, in the world where most people live its gramatically correct, and perfectly acceptable, to say an armour.

Even though an armour sounds totally lame, they couldn’t write a armour without it being uncomfortable to say and read and if they dropped the singular then it wouldn’t do as good a job of reading as an homage to that earlier story.

In other news, I can’t imagine not at least giving a read to a what if? story. I don’t know what it is about alternate interpretations that are so alluring.

  12. Sorry, correction. an armour is obviously not gramatically correct, but it is more correct than a armour. Just thinking the words a armour is awkward.

  13. This was way boring and too predictable. Luckily the back up was weird and funny.

  14. A solid 4 just on Rememder’s story alone.  As someone who has worked in headshops for years, I’ve seen many of those tattoos!

  15. @AlanRob yeah that bit was spot on, got a good chuckle out of that
