  1. I’m back on board now. Curious what a new direction means for Voodoo

    • Had you dropped off due to Marz or content? We’re only on issue 5..?

    • I thought Marz was doing a fine job w the character and story, but I lost interest once Rayner and the super powered government types showed up. I just really didn’t think I’d care about this character in a normal DC superhero setting. It wasn’t what I was expecting the book to be. I recently got the issues I was missing and rather enjoyed them though after giving it a second thought and being aware that this was more DC centric than I thought.

    • Ah! Thanks for the explanation, I was curious.

  2. I was enjoying this under Marz. I’ll stay on for now.

  3. This for me has been in my top five books monthly. Unless there is a crazed maniac writing and drawing this I do not see a down slide for this book for some time. I want this invasion to go to full blown status through out the entire new DCU, I think it will be a blast.

  4. Curious if the change in writer will in fact mean a change in direction, since the two aren’t always mutually exclusive.

    • I’m curious about that as well. I was leaning towards dropping this but I’ll give Williamson at least an issue to see how different the book feels. I still love the art.

  5. I’m cutting back on DC for budgetary reasons, and this is one of six titles getting cut at issue #6 or thereabouts.

I’m interested to see where Josh Williamson takes this.

Maybe I’ll check back in a couple of months.

  6. I’m so glad this book wasn’t in the first wave of cancellations. I really enjoyed Marz’s issues, but will definitely give this new writer a shot as well.

  7. As long as Basri is drawing I will give this book a chance. I don’t think the character/story have done enough to keep me buying without the awesome art.

  8. And like that… I am off this book. This was my favorite book of the relaunch, no joke. I went in with no baggage of the old wild storm universe and maybe because there was no expectation when it ended up being good, I was hooked. I tried to give this one a shot but it felt too different and too rushed. Sad day when I have to put down a Sami Basri drawn book.

  9. I’m still on board. The art definitely helped this feel like it was a continuation of the old storyline, but I think Williamson was too heavy on the exposition in this issue. It just didn’t read as smooth as Marz’s issues did. Still, I love this character and can’t wait to see what happens next with her.

  10. I don’t like how we got Voodoo’s first person narration in this story. It wasn’t like that in the Marz issues. It felt totally different and nowhere near as cool. It was okay, and the art is still great, but I’m disappointed in the change so far.

    • Agreed. I was turned off by the narration right off the bat. Those first couple pages would’ve worked better with minimal or even no words. Even though I complained about the Marz issues being too mysterious, one thing I did like was that we didn’t see her thoughts, we only saw Voodoo act.

Voodoo was on the border for me and after this issue I can safely drop it. I’ll miss Basri’s art but what can ya do? The Wildstorm books have all taken a bad turn IMHO. I won’t be reading any of them next month.

  11. Well this was another great issue and the artwork keeps pulling me in on every issue! It seems there will be some esplaining to do Josh next issue….. (LUCY) sorry old a#s refereence. The last page was not expected…..
I like this character more and more each issue and I can’t wait for the Grifter to get involved in this as well/

  12. I really like this book. I look forward to issue 6 of Voodoo, and will put Sami Basri on my “must” buy list. The first issue now seems more and more out of place as we go forward. The artwork in issue 1 was awesome but the representation of Voodoo seems different as we have gotten to know her. Oh well, great series for sure.

  13. Loved the “What the ?!%” at the bottom of the final page…that helped me swallow the premise. Enjoying Voodoo.

  14. I really consider this book a guilty pleasure. I enjoy it, but at the same time it is too zany and OTT. That ebing siad I feel like I will be buying this for quite some time
