  1. Yes, the acerbic angry Beatrix Potter reject is back! If it is half as good as his last appearance I will love this issue.

  2. Yay! The first Mr. Bun issue was one of the best of the series thus far.

  3. Shimizu’s work on the covers has been consistently top notch.

  4. Yeah where’s the Eisner for best cover artist?

  5. Indeed.  Shimizu’s quality, consistency, and loyalty should be rewarded, goddammit!

  6. @OnASunday  He got one.

  7. aaaaha!  hope he wins!

  8. Just finished vol. 3 tonight. I friggin love this book.

  9. 2011 cover artist nominations:

Rodin Esquejo, Morning Glories Dave Johnson, Abe Sapien: The Abyssal Plain, Unknown Soldier, Punisher/Max, Deadpool
Mike Mignola, Hellboy, Baltimore: The Plague Ships
David Petersen, Mouse Guard: Legends of the Guard Yuko Shimizu, The Unwritten

I think this is Shimizu’s first nomination for his covers on The Unwritten. With respect to the competition, I think he deserves the award.

  10. Yikes, sorry about the formatting of the nominee list. It should look like this:

    Rodin Esquejo: Morning Glories
Dave Johnson: Abe Sapien: The Abyssal Plain, Unknown Soldier, Punisher/Max, Deadpool
Mike Mignola: Hellboy, Baltimore: The Plague Ships
David Petersen: Mouse Guard: Legends of the Guard
    Yuko Shimizu: The Unwritten

  11. actually this is shimizu’s second nomination. She lost last year to JH Williams III.

  12. Is this the only Vertigo title they use glossy paper on? I don’t see it for Scalped or Sweet Tooth.
