  1. what is this crossing over with?  i may drop the ‘curse’ and pick up this one.

  2. I’m guessing they meant the "Second Coming" crossover, and this solicit came out before it was over.  I could be wrong though.

  3. So glad land and Dodson are finally off this book.

  4. What is up with the Heinberg credit? I am guessing a second story tying directly into the Children’s Crusade thingie? And I hope Land and Dodson are finally off this book, but I am dubious.

  5. THERE ARE FOUR LIGHTS!

@ramulux I don’t necessarily think Dodson or Land are off the book, I just think Portacio is doing this arc.

@JimBilly Heinberg is writing a backup for this issue I believe.

  6. I’m pretty sure Land is doing X-Men Legacy now so that book has been dropped.

Not sure what Dodson is doing but I hope Coipel is the ongoing artist for this book. Loved his run on Siege.

  7. Land was only on Legacy for Second Coming.  Clay Mann appears to be artist there.

Heinberg and Coipel are on the backup.  the main story is Fraction and Portacio.  Portacio is going to be the ongoing penciler I believe.

  8. @JimBilly4: Back-up story.

  9. Very interested to see where the post Second Coming stories go.

  10. Dodson! We got Dodson here!

At least on the cover 🙂

  11. Can’t wait to read Heinberg and Coipel’s back up story.

  12. Portacio turned in some pretty good work on the Kitty Pryde issue, but I’d prefer Dodson. I’m interested to see where this goes now, hopefully Fraction steps it up.

  13. I’m buying just for the few pages of Coipel.

  14. I got worried when I saw this was 3.99 but then I remembered the back-up. If this had just made that price jump with nothing extra i mightve been tempted to drop this and most other X titles, which I feel have been in a slump since Brubaker left.

  15. Why can’t Marvel pay good artist to work on their main X-Men book?

I think they should’ve paid Coipel to do the whole book. Portacio’s work is horrible.

  16. Urgh… Canadians don’t write the SATs. Is it that hard to get details like that right?!?

  17. This issue sucked.  I keep picking it up and keep hating it.  Fraction’s X-Men is too all-over the place.  I want a cohesive team, not "every mutant is an X-Man".  If I stick with a X-Men book it will be the new one.  I really disliked this, although he gets some props for setting part of it in my city but boo on the SATs Fraction, booooo!

  18. Look, Canada is just a nickname for states 51 through 63 🙂

  19. @ CGPO Just drop it! Check back in in a few months if it’s the same check back in another few months.

They will keep publishing it just like it is as long as sales are there. By buying it you say "I like this please give me more!"

I haven’t read this issue but I find a lot of Fraction’s characterizations extremely off-putting. I really hated the Heroic Age Uncanny X-men whatever it was. It made me want to not follow the characters especially in the Beast story, he just seemed like a dick.

  20. is it possible that this Canadian girl is applying to an American college that might require SAT scores?

also, anyone else think Ponsor’s colors made Coipel resemble Land a bit?

  21. I actually liked this issue. I find Fraction to be the first good Uncanny writer in a decade. Every time I feel like Uncanny is slipping in quality I go and read an Chuck Austen issue.

  22. I think this was pretty good. Kind of like what Fraction is setting up but the Hope story makes me a little nervous. The girl saying ‘I’ll follow you anywhere’ was not a good sign. I hope they don’t go too far with this messiah thing and actually make Hope a quasi religious figure.

  23. This issue was kind of amazing, both story and art wise…

  24. @ResurrectionFlan – I don’t read the title regularly.  I picked it up when Fraction came on and got disinterested, picked a couple of issues of Second Coming but my LCS sold out of some other chapters, so I stopped that, and then picked this up hoping for a new status quo post-Second Coming and was very disappointed.  I won’t be picking up another issue until Fraction leaves unfortunately.  It would be nice to be reading an X-Men book, but if they all suck, I won’t.

  25. Hope also looks totally different issue to issue, someone needs to have a meeting to decide how old/tall she is supposed to be, she varies from 12-24.

  26. The story was pretty good here, but the art absolutely ruined it for me…so bad it was real close to Liefield bad. The Coipel art in the backup was stellar of course which made Portacio look even worse, bring back Dodson.
