  1. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. I really hope Kitty lectures the X-Men about having failing her expectations in the time she’s been away. Because that’s usually what most X-Characters do. "This is not how we used to do it!" Excited, though. And that’s the first time I’ve said that for this book in a while.

  3. I haven’t read X-men since Whedon’s run ended on Astonishing. What’s up with Colossus’ Charlie Brown stripes on his costume?

  4. his doctor hasn’t been in for a LONG time

  5. I’m stoked to see Kitty come back. However Dodson’s cover makes her look like hell.

  6. @ mountainwindcat well she has been stuck in a bullet for a year and a bit

  7. @oldmanlogan, check out the variant cover. she’s actually riding the bullet, definitely not stuck in it

  8. I really like about one out of three of Fraction’s Uncanny X-men. Kitty is one of my all time favorite X-characters, so here’s hoping this is another one that I really like.

  9. The variant cover is awesome but I’m not paying $15 or $20 for a variant so I guess Ill stick with the regular ugly cover.

  10. awesome. they’re bringing back one of the greatest x-characters of all time just in time for this book to get mired down in second coming.

  11. I’m sorry but is that suppose to be Kitty?

Cause it looks nothing like her. Then again it has been a long time time anyone really had to draw her.

  12. @TNC-Kitty has a generic facial structure with no real pronounced features. Artist draw her however they want all the time. That being said, I’m not a fan of how Dodson rendered her on the cover.

  13. I don’t normally by X-books but the return of Kitty has got me buying this issue.

  14. I haven’t read X-Men in years, so i’m coming back to give it a shot.

  15. I think this is a hoax, or maybe a joke.

  16. @drakedangerz–uh, Kitty is Jewish, and actually used to have very specific features until other artists came aboard and made her generic.

Kitty should come back and immediately hit the little girl’s room. She has to have been holding it for quite awhile.

  17. No!!!!!!!!  Keep her in the stinking space bullet!  Her character is a bore.

  18. This book is about to phase out of my pull list.

  19. @shogunt-Like you said, she used to have specific features.

  20. @shogunt, drake We’re talking about a character who started out 14 and has been aged as high as 30 (The early 2000s through X-Treme X-Men seemed to heavily imply she was 30, if not pushing it) and been de-aged back down to mid-20s (Anything after X-Treme until now). There’s no one consistent *look* for Kitty Pryde as an adult. The only time she ever really is drawn consistently is under Byrne’s pen and anytime a flash back occurs young Kitty tends to look more like the Byrne Kitty. The reason most other characters stay visually the same is that you don’t need to imply a difference in age between them.

All that said, I’m waiting for MEKANIX 2. 😉

  21. So like I said, in not so many words, artist draw her however they want.

  22. so if she touches the bullet, but not her, er.. um, refuse, then it will pass right through the structure of the bullet and float off into space, yes?

  23. New interior Artists…y’think if this issue sells like hot cakes, they’ll replace Land and Dodson? I mean those two artists really shouldnt be on a flagship title!

  24. Has anyone been reading Fraction’s tweets about Kitty being back? hilarious

  25. I haven’t Bought an X-Men book since the 90’s.  And Whilce Portacio is drawing it.  What did I miss?  Seriously, that was pretty good.  Not sure who a few people are, but i’ll stick around the X-verse for the crossover.  Any books in particular that I should avoid?  Or should I just commit to the whole ride and see how I feel when it is over?

  26. This was so weak. I can’t believe this is the story that brings back Kitty. So poorly written it’s shameful.

  27. I really enjoyed this. Fraction works best when he isn’t juggling 3 different storylines.

  28. Not sure what to say about the story… I guess it was okay, but the art was absolutely awful.

  29. Really liked the Twilight Zone-esque twist at the end of this.

  30. Having just finished Weedon’s Astonishing X-men Omnibus, I was excited about this issue.  I paged through it and found it pretty weak… Seems like they tried to shoe-horn hre return in just in time for the next X-event.

  31. This was probably the first Issue of Fractions of Uncanny I’ve enjoyed in a long time. Truth told, this is probably the single best issue of Uncanny I’ve read since Joe Kelly bowed out around 400. I agree with Drake, without the burden of juggling everything else Fraction was able to explore the story a little more. Some really nice stuff in here. Quite happy with it, including the ending. The back up, while nice for story purposes, didn’t really add much to my enjoyment. Also, it was nice to see some of these characters back to who they are and not who they need to be for the story. I really liked Poratico’s art on this book, I wasn’t always a big fan of his in the past, but really enjoyed his work here. Nice to see 90s Magneto back! Great stuff. This gets a 4.5/5 from me.

  32. I agree with Prax 100%.  Prax, you might want to screencap this, it doesn’t happen often!

  33. Man Portacio’s time on Spawn made his awesome. He was terrible on anything he did before his brief run on Spawn and bow he’s turning out what is arguably the best work of his career

  34. Such a let down.  I was really let down by the ending.  Like that hasn’t happened before.  Whatev.

  35. Interesting. I loved this issue and kind of expected to read the same here but guess I was wrong. I liked the art and wouldn’t mind Portacio being the regular artist for awhile.

The scene with Katty and Colossus reminded me if when he came back and heartbreaking.

Kind of wish Second Coming wasn’t happening next issue to see this play out more.

  36. I agree this was a great issue and I loved Portacio’s art.  But one thing did bother, (maybe I’m being a spoil sport) how does a phased bullet build up friction upon re-entry?

  37. I think the friction was a result of the shield magneto put around the bullet to bring it home

  38. @Roi   THat is a No PRize for you sir!  Thanks for helping me expand my imagination!

  39. I wonder if there will be any reference to the last time Kitty was stuck phased. Following their encounter with the Maruaders Kitty got stuck in phased form for a long time. I can’t remember exactly how it happened, one of the Maruaders –maybe Harpoon — zapped her and it somehow still effected her despite phasing and she got stuck that way. I think they shipped her off the Muir Island where she eventually got better and joined Excalibur. I can’t recall all the details, but Fraction has a history of ignoring all X-history, even when highly relevant. We’ll see…
