  1. So excited for this

  2. I’ve read the last two issues of All New X-Men & rather liked them so maybe just maybe I may get this?!

  3. Stoked

  4. Is it just me or does it feel like Rick Remender should be on this book? Not trying to hate on Bendis; he won me over on All New X-Men but I just feel like Rememender is better suited for this kind of stuff.

    • Agreed, but here’s hoping we’re wrong

    • Better suited for what stuff? I didn’t read Uncanny X-Force, but his writing style on Captain America is not for me. Honestly if it was his name on this book I would not be picking it up. Bendis seems to have a plan with the X-Men, and so far he is batting a thousand.

    • @theWAC
Yeah the first issue of Uncanny Avengers was a such a complete turd that I would never go near a Remender book unless someone paid me.

    • I do like what Bendis is doing on X-Men right now so it’s not really a criticism against him. Uncanny X-Force is my favorite series of the last 3 or 4 years but Uncanny Avengers has been a bit of a dud and I like Captain America but the leaps in logic that he’s taking is killing me. I think Remender’s talents are better suited for a flagship X-Men book and again I like what Bendis is doing on the X-Men books but I wonder if the best Marvel lineup is Remender on these and Bendis focusing his talent on something else. Like what happens when the original X-Men go back to the 60’s? What he’s doing is cool but I’m not sure there is a long term book here where as Remender is a guy that’s already modernized classic X-Men tropes perfectly in X-Force and I would really like to see what he could do with the main X-Men titles. So yeah armchair editor talk from me and I’m sure Marvel knows what they are doing but I just wonder if they are making the best use of there talent. Especially when someone as talented as Remender; who did I mention his run on Uncanny X-Force as well as Punisher, Secret Avengers and most of Venom is fucking awesome, languishes on a useless title like Uncanny Avengers.

    • What I read of Venom was good, I’ll give him that, but Cap turned me off. And I’m not the biggest BMB fan, but the X-Men are in good hands. This seems to be much more than a title, this is a whole new era for the x family of books, and this book should give us a little more of an idea of the big picture X world that is being created. I’m excited about it. Hope the art pulls through.

    • You know to tell you the truth the art on this and All New X-Men has been my favorite part but I realize Bachalo is an aquired taste. BMB has moments of brillance but he’s def lost his fastball post siege. There are things I like and things I don’t like about Cap so far. But yeah dude read at least the first 4 trades of his run on Uncanny X-Force and enjoy the finer things in life.

    • @muddi that seems like a reasonable response.

  5. Bachalo!

  6. Avengers, All New X-Men, and this are hitting all my buttons. Picking this up!

  7. Bendis has been killing it with the X-Men. Can’t wait to pick this up.

  8. Weird that i love the art in the preview for issue 2 but am really not impressed with the preview for issue 1, I think it is the colours.

Can’t wait for this, especially if it ties in with All New X-men! I think X-Men books are going to make up over half of my Marvel pull list at this rate. Damn you Marvel Now!

  9. Man it’s a good time to be an X-Men fan.

  10. Anybody know the shipping schedule of this title? Really seems like the kind of thing I’d enjoy, but I just dropped Hickman’s Avengers because it was coming out WAY too often at 3.99. Hoping this is monthly or even just twice a month.

    • From the solicits for the next couple months, Uncanny X-Men appears to be about twice a month. According to the solicits, we’ll get issues 1 and 2 in February, 3 in March and 4 and 5 in April.

But Avengers is only a twice a month book too — it was just that a delay to issue 3 caused 3, 4, and 5 to come out on three consecutive weeks. 1 and 2 came out in December, 3 and 4 in January, while 5 and (presumably) 6 are February issues. So even though it’s been a funky schedule, it’s been coming out as advertised.

    • Thanks, Ken. I hadn’t heard about the delays in Avengers but when I saw them all drop 3 weeks in a row, I had to jump off. No way I can swing that. Guess I just have to pick between the two, now.

  11. Never knew that Bendis would have turned me into an X-Men fan. If it’s anywhere near as good as All-New X-Men, this should be fucking great. Really excited about this.

  12. I’m looking forward to having Badass Cyclops back. Loved the last run.

  13. By subscription.

    Hoping for greatness.

  14. This is the line-up that led me to dropping Uncanny X-Men for the first time in my 25 year comic reading career. BUT I love what BMB is doing in All New & I LOVE Bachalo, so I’ll give it a shot.

First step in the right direction? Giving Magik a new costume.

  15. Am I the only one who HATES ‘ol mags’ new helmet?

  16. Yet another X-ment book. In the long run this book might be a bad thing. Bendis did this before with the Avengers. Too many books and the story suffered

    • A bad thing for who? If it doesn’t sell, the creative team gets replaced or it gets cancelled — Marvel is running a business, so have no fear on that account. If the book isn’t someone’s cup of tea, they will bitch about it, but fortunately there are several other really good X-Men books with completely different tones out there right now. If none of those other books work for them, they probably just like complaining.

That’s the great thing about having so many books in the X-franchise — by delivering so many different tones, there’s something for almost anyone. I’d rather have half a dozen X-books with specific directions that appeal to smaller segments of the audience than a single X-Men title that gets watered down by trying to be everything to everyone.

    • Too many books in my opinion. Its like I love the ALL NEW X-MEN, and I can even pick it up twice monthly, but a $4 Bendis xmen book every week! Aside from the money, I personally don’t have time. As for the arguement “Marvel’s running a business” — fine, but they are stretching me, as a fan, too thin.

Just my two cents. That said, if the grades are good I may pick this up, being a fanboy.

    • @DenverDave: I understand that Marvel engenders a “gotta read ’em all” mentality, and it falls on each of us to decide on what and for what cost we ought to spend our time and money. And I get that that’s different for everyone.

But if the reason people incessantly complain about “too many X-books” is because they can’t afford to buy all the ones they want to read, then I wish they’d just accept that it’s a personal problem, and that there might be people out there who like having all these different books out there, and like the fact that the stories are being told more quickly with double shipping.

    • yea, I can see that point of view. You got points, I’ll give you that.

    • I was not clear. I think in the long run Bendis writing suffered for being in the Avengers Corner of the Marvel U for so long. I’m enjoying All New X-men thus far but if taking on so many X books at the same time! If goes the way it did with the Avengers the books could get stale or I’ll just get sick of his writing! It happened before it could happen again!

    • The thing I like about large publishers is that I know I will get a trade or two out of a series just because. They will survive without me buying floppies.

  17. I expectes more of the first issue. It seemed way too short for me. Hopefully Bendis will pick up some momentum in the next couple issues or so. It’s a 7 out of 10 for me.

  18. Liked most of it. Not sure how I feel about the twist at the end

    • The ending.. Felt kind of “from out of nowhere”. Great issue, though.

    • Yeah I mean complaining about continuity of Marvel charecters is stupid but this did feel a little out of place for Magneto. Obviously Bendis likes to pick an choose how he uses continutiy but I don’t know just felt off. Your right thought the rest of the issue is pretty much fantastic.

    • C’mon guys! Its a con obviously.

    • Yeah, I think you’re right. I mean, you HAVE to be right. 🙂 Magneto is first and foremost all about EXACTLY what Scott is doing. If anything, Scott’s actions and attitude are a little tame by Magneto’s standards. I guess it’s a tribute to Bendis’ ability to wrap me up in the story that the con-angle slipped by me.

    • I think if it’s a con that cheapens it even more. This is just a personal preference but I’m so tired of these “WHOA CRAZY TWIST” moments being used as a building block of a plot line. Especially from Bendis who if I had one complaint about it would be that as of late he has overly relied on those as a hook into the story.

  19. Awesome. Think i’m starting to really like Bendis. I couldn’t get into Avengers on his run but really enjoying New X-men and this was a great starting point.

  20. Isn’t cyclops supposed to be in prison?

  21. Really enjoyed this. I’m getting All New X-Men, the first X book I’ve ever pulled regularly, and my shop guy put this aside for me just in case I wanted a look at it. I thought why not, I’d give the first issue a try and I was thoroughly impressed. I kinda like the idea we’re following the “villains” here in this book. I’ll stick around for another issue or two, love Bachalo’s style.

  22. Bachalo is a beast! But the story was meh. I want more from the flagship X-title

  23. Pretty good ish. However, I’m not sure how I feel about mags all white uni….am i alone when i say that i think he looks too much like moon knight?

  24. Really enjoyed this, which I am surprised by the fact I haven’t really enjoyed anything X related in a long time since the late eighties. So Bendis is doing it for me, which also surprises me!

  25. Gotta say I love all new xmen and wolverine and xmen, and the story in this seems awesome and I will continue to get it because I love the x men but I hate hate hate Bachalo’s style. I know alot of people like it, but it’s too goofy and hard to tell what is going on sometimes.

  26. ***spoilers****

It’s not all new x-men but it is close and I feel the two will work really well together. I did like the ending and it makes sense. Magneto prides himself on being a mutant and once that was tampered with I feel he would make all influenced that suffer. Since it is hard to go after the phoenix force, cyclops is the next best target. Still I would not put it past him if he is working both sides and putting him back at that status he originally had.

    • Yeah that was the thing with me was that in a way Magneto working with authorities and trying to stop a mutant revolution seemed out of charechter but on the other hand him doing some snake shit and playing both sides also seems highly probably. I really don’t know how I feel about it.

    • I’m good with both scenarios: Magneto’s history as a megalomaniac mutant leader leads me to accept that he might want to undermine Scott’s current reign as “Leader of The Mutants” in the public eye.

However, Scott is also known as a master strategist, so it would make sense to send Magneto in as a spy (for the above reason).

    • I have a third theory – it isn’t even Magneto – it is Morph from the 90’s cartoon

    • I guess my big confusion is if Magneto felt that way about Scott from the get-go, why did he bother breaking him out from prison in the first place?

    • @TexasZombie99: Maybe Magneto wants to set Scott up to be the fall guy in his own grab for power? If he can counsel Scott into more and more extreme decisions, it might lead SHIELD and others to believe that Magneto is someone they can work with. They support Magneto, Scott falls, Magneto takes control.

  27. I was not expecting to like this, so I was pleasantly surprised that I actually found it entertaining. It was pretty straight-forward and to the point.

  28. Oddly, I finally understand why Marvel does so many X-books. This is the X-men book for me. Growing up, Cyclops was my favorite and I resented that everyone liked Wolverine when he seemed like a bully to me. Now, Cyclops does things I find reprehensible but I can’t stop reading his fall from grace. Often, I agree with him and in this comic we get to see the oppression of mutants much more so than in other comics, something I feel has been forgotten by the other X-titles. Combine that with the new young mutants giving us a potential for the multi-generational and relationship drama that I feel are core to an X-men book and I find myself wishing I could read the next issue as soon as I put this down.

This comic is not without flaws but for the moment it is the best X-title for me.

  29. This is a good first issue, I’m interested enough to keep picking this up.

  30. Just finished reading this book. Cyclops new uniform is a terrible design. He looks like an ink shape with no definition. The X design for his eyes helps emphasize the lack of shape. I hope he changes looks soon. And whats with calling Magneto The “Former Master of Magnetism”? Sure he’s a weaker power level than he was previously but he’s still deadly. Is there an election for Masters of Magnetism? What should he be; The Assistant Manager of Magnetism? On the other hand, I kind of like the story. I like the idea of Magneto trying to usurp Cyclops and am anxious to see where this goes. I will stick around for awhile and see how this weaves in with All New XMen.

    • Also weird how Magneto says that in 3rd person since he was the one narrating the issue, but I suppose that would give away the ending.

  31. Bendis’ dialogue can be pretty obnoxious at times but the artists on all new and uncanny totally make up for it.
Is it possible that magneto is really mystique and she is manipulating both Scotts and setting the table for them to team-up and ultimately bring old cyclops back from the dark side and send young cyclops back to the past.

  32. I’m a sucker for sentinels, and Bachalo draws a mean one. I’m usually not a fan of his, and actually picked the book up because of Frazier Irving coming on board soon, but this book looks GREAT. I loved all the action, reminded me of the late80’s and Claremont’s X-Men with all the members using their powers for a fight. Good stuff, nice twist, looking forward to this series.
