  1. More Fraction on Thor – this has really turned into a nice thing, especially since the main JMS series is so delayed.

  2. It may just be me, but I’ve found Fraction’s THOR specials to be much better than the JMS ongoing.

  3. i feel like Fraction is trying too hard while JMS is not trying hard enough

  4. Love it.

  5. how is the ongoing thor series?

  6. i think both the fraction one-shots and the JMS series are both just really good thor books.  its kinda cool that two chacracters i didnt give a shit about a few years ago are both featured in really good, solid books (Thor and Iron Man)

  7. After singing the praises of Conan this week, I decided to give this seemingly similar title a shot.  We’re talking about epic grandeur, inspiring battle scenes, and lofty language.  Right?

Well.  This is really, really over-wrought.  And I agree with juand182 that Fraction might be trying a little too hard here.  It just feels like a lot of empty words and it comes across as blustery.  Some nice art here and there, especially from Allred, but ultimately this was a disappointment.  If you want to see this same kind of thing handled a hell of a lot better, you know what book I’m gonna recommend.

  8. This issue was probably the worst of the Fraction Thor books.  It’s still better than 1/2 the stuff out there.  A nice bonus was the addition of the original Simmonson source material in this issue. (I can never get enough of Walt’s Thor!)

  9. @Notahiro – I also felt that this was the weakest of Fraction’s Thor one-shots.  The others stood nicely on their own and required no history with the character to be fully enjoyed.  Nonetheless, as a long-time Thor reader, I still found this to be very enjoyable and was fully entertained by both the writing and the art.
