THE UNWRITTEN #33.5

Before she became a puppet-master, Madame Rausch was a child with more than the usual complement of troubles – and one terrifying secret.

This stand-alone tale illuminates the Cabal’s past and present, as well as the origin of one of THE UNWRITTEN‘s most enigmatic figures.

  1. I am pretending there are no issue numbers and am just enjoying the incredible storytelling. There.

    Stupid 0.5.

    Almost had it that time.

  2. Issue #24 was the best single issue of 2011 period.

  3. This was a very hard issue to read, but it tells an interesting tale. Very well done.

Boy, does that cover take on some significant meaning after reading the issue. Wow.

  4. I have enjoyed every one of these .5 books so far. Just like American Vamp., the side story is as exciting as the feature, keep it up Vertigo!

  5. I would say my favourite part of these .5’s is that they are so stand alone, while still tying themselves into a larger framework. It’s an issue I see everywhere in comics, that the authors are writing for the trade, as opposed to the individual book. The regular issues of Unwritten are an exact example of this, as it tells a story that is so impenetrable that no one could jump on without having read the entire series. I wish that there were an entire series dedicated to this sort of stand alone style; but alas…

  6. The girl was just a bit too young. Not that I have any illusions about how young abuse happens, but too young for the other things that supposedly happened to her. If she had been 2 years older I would have had an easier time with belief. Still ranked it 5 stars though…
