  1. Jill Thompson art??!?! what a rare treat

  2. Ive found this is getting stronger each issue. If only Robinson would get back to Starman!

    • He’s been done with Starman for over a decade.

    • Starman is such a wonderfully complete, well-crafted work as a whole that I’d actually wouldn’t want for him to revisit it. The fact that it tied up so neatly in the end enforces that notion in my mind. I’m content for DC to just let it lie as a complete piece.

I’m buying these in issues but waiting until they’re all done before I read them so I can read Golden Age, Starman and this Shade series in a row without having to wait for the next issue. Very excited. The talent is top notch.

    • I think there’s a lot of leeway for a move back to Starman. Easily the best supporting cast and most realised city in DC comics. I think Jack Knight is done but I don’t too that it would be a stretch for someone who has written so many legacy characters to put a new Starman in the costume and bring them to Opal.

  3. If I see dogs somewhere in the background, I’ll simply have to make this my POTW. Can’t wait to see Jill on this.

…and then 3 issues of freakin’ Frazer Irving next!!!

  4. We saved the Shade people!, it’s going to finish!!

  5. Had me at times past

  6. My only complaint is that this is ending at issue 12.

  7. This issue was fantastic. My pick of the week so far.

  8. This was a magnificent book, and Robinson is at the top of his game. Jill Thompson’s art is superb — check out the opium den and the body-strewn streets of St. Dubris. No excuse to miss this one.

  9. Good issue, just really do not like the artwork; not my cup of tea I suppose! Gave this a 3.5 and this is a pretty darn good maxi-series so far and I hope they get him back to some more current times soon this past stuff is also getting me kinda bored here and there.
