  1. I see a ton of people picking it up, but no one commenting. What’s the word on this?

    • I have no clue, but I am very intrigued by the premise: Dani Moonstar recruiting new Valkyrie from the ranks of the Marvel Universe. I’m in for an issue, at least.

  2. it’s hard to comment exactly because I don’t know what Im going to get, but that is also what makes it one of my most anticipated books this week. oK so I can comment that I love the cover, love the logo, love the mixup of familiar characters. Hope it’s good!

  3. I know nothing about the Defenders. This book is on my list because I love the Sixth Gun and the writing of Cullen Bunn. But from what I’ve read and the preview of the comics I’ve seen I’m definitely intrigued. I’m looking forward to this book.

  4. I like Valkyrie and I like that it’s an all-lady team. That’s why I’m picking it up.

  5. I am shocked at how low this book is ranking on the pull list here. Not a great start for the first issue. It doesn’t bode well for the life of the book.

  6. Okay. I’m in for three bucks.

  7. This is a total maybe book for me I like Cullen and the sixth gun I just not sure about this book. So is this book wowing anyone? Are they going to make this book twice a month as well? Not sure my wallet can take it.

  8. An attempt at some mindless fun, I guess, but I didn’t find much fun in it unfortunately. I won’t go on with issue 2.

  9. This book is wicked fun! To be fair, I signed onto this series for Dani Moonstar next issue (YES!) However I am pleasantly surprised, it’s a hit the ground running kind of start up with ass kickin’ and great character moments. My only complaint was that I really want to read the next issue right now.

  10. It has an Avenging Spider-man feel to it. Not sure if I’m picking up issue 2. actually issue 2 has that awesome action figure themed cover.

  11. I thought this book was really fun! I was not familiar with either Misty Knight or Valkyrie before this but I liked the two of them working together. I liked the archaeologist as well and there was plenty of action. Some of the poses made me ask “really?” but apart from that it was a good, and again, fun read.

  12. I really don’t understand the low average rating (3.5 as I write). Maybe because it’s a lighter book? For me this is a welcome change of pace. It has that classic Defenders feel I was really missing. Plus, Sliney’s storytelling is really nice.

A masterpiece? No. A solid, entertaining comic with characters I’m fond of? Hell yeah! I’m on for the long run.

  13. It did have a bit of the classic Defenders feel. Enough fun (and nothing annoying, more than I can so for the most recent Defenders run) that I’m coming back. Not sure what I think about the lesbian subplot…? Val and Misty are good characters. More please!

  14. I enjoyed it. It’s a fun book, as a lot of the Marvel Now titles have been.
