  1. damn it, they got me back in with Walt Simonson art

  2. Can’t wait to see Walt Simonson’s stuff.

  3. Walt Simonson: Yes!

I’m still about a year behind on Avengers-related stuff.

Slated for May, after the movie leaves me in an Avengers-related frenzy.

  4. Haven’t read Avengers in a while but I thought Bendis was going to do an “Ultron War” story before his end. Does anyone know what the status of this is?

  5. Simonson?

Rats! So much for not buying any AVX tie-ins … curse you Marvel! Get out of my wallet

  6. So someone help me out here, since Hammer was shut down is there no Aim or Hand anymore?
    Is Hydra all that’s left?

  7. Simonson looked pretty good on his Legion of Super-Heroes fill-in, but I was only buying this for Acuna. Not sure now…

  8. I love this cover and is one of the few tie ins i’ll be buying and haven’t kept up with Avengers since the lame “Heroic Age” start over. I wanna see how Walt Simonson’s art holds up in this current ending Bendis run. After all the Civil War, Secret Invasion, Avengers Initiative stuff was over I think they should’ve dropped/combined all these Avengers titles, like this: The big 3 are back and so are the Avengers as a team, no need for New Avengers anymore cause that was they’re purpose, to band together and fill in while the Avengers were disassembled. I thought Mighty Avengers carried the most weight after the smoke cleared and think New and self titled should’ve became and continued numbering Mighty Avengers or start at #1 but you get the point and think that would’ve been a stronger title when heroic age started, also I like the idea of Secret Avengers, them having a black ops team is a great counterpart to the public Mighty Avengers. I would have ran with those two and think less fans would be jaded by over populating titles carrying the same name. I don’t care what they do with the Avengers Academy or anything involving the younger Avenger titles as I feel they’re not in the same boat. Two Avengers books, both solid, and focus/creativity spread less thin, in my perfect world. One can dream, anyone feel me on this?

    • Completely agree. The brand is being spread too thin these days.

    • It’s sad that New Avengers isent the “Official” Avengers book anymore. But yeah, i don’t really mind that there are 3 Avengers teams, I just think there should be less members in each team. If there’s to many then we don’t get a lot of great character moments, and there’s always that one guy or girl who only spoke 7 words throught the whole arc. So in my opinion teams should be shirked to 6 members. That’s right 6. Maybe 7 if they really have to but no more then that.

    • AGREED 100%.

combine new and regular avengers books with avengers assemble.
      make the avengers an army.

      or, get rid of b-listers.
like, who the fuck is noh-varr? seriously.

    • No you didn’t!!!!
      The Protectors awesome!!!! Haha.

    • Agreed that noh-varr is one of the least interesting Avengers.

  9. Most brands in Marvel are being spread to thin these days, and as long as we keep shelling out the coin; they will keep piping them out to us. I for one just picking this up because of the cross over, thats it; and then I seen these last two comments and I agree 100%.

  10. Oh, and I just gota say I absolutely love that cover.

  11. Is Bendis even trying anymore? I picked this up ONLY because of Simonson, and it read horribly?! When did Thor come back?! I clearly missed something.

  12. Any of you guys going to the Simonson signing at JHU tonight?

  13. Ugh i knew better than to buy this. Simonson’s art was fantastic but I just can’t read Bendis’ avengers anymore! 2/5 -Story 4.5/5 -Art. Will not be back for seconds

  14. I feel suckered. Thought that this was going to have more to do with A vs X ( although the last couple pages probably will be important).

  15. The bad dialogue was distracting.

  16. First issue I’ve since the first (relaunch) arc, and I actually enjoyed this quite a bit. Just Avengers, Avengering. Feels like forever since I’ve read that

  17. This was terrible and I’ve enjoyed Bendis’ run so far. What the heck happened?

  18. I just wanna say I liked this issue as well gave it a 4 and really think Bendis has done very good on the last few issues of this title. No, I realize it is not mind blowing and for the majority of the issue had nothing really to do with AVX or so it seemed until the end which yes, it probably has something for late in dealing with the AVX maxi-series. I really hope Cap just unleashes his full power on one of the biggest opponents so we can gauge just how powerfuld he really is. I for one have never seen him just let it fly, at least not that I can remeber?!

  19. I’m not sure why everyone is raving about the artwork in this…. I’m guessing everyone is more nostalgic than I am. The sad part for me was the writing in this comic, seriously Bendis I think your spread too thin do you really have to have your name on 30 books a month? I guess I’m just angry that I picked up this book because of the cover art.

  20. Just like with New Avengers… I was totally jipped by the solicit and the cover for this, thinking it related to AvX. Instead, we get a script that seemed pre-written before the crossover, and then 2 or 3 bookend pages to justify the label across the top. Poor form, Marvel. I know your job is to sell books, but letting your customer feel duped will only increase resentment and decrease loyalty.

    • Exactly how I feel. I have no loyalty to them anymore and am quite resentful. I’ve dropped everything they do. Then I give them another chance and this is what I get?

  21. This title is spiralling. What was worse, Spiderwoman and Hawkeye making out for no reason at an inappropriate time and location, or the dialogue “Heads up… They’ve got guns and stuff!”?

    • That scene was jarring, mostly because it has been so long (if ever) that Spider-Woman’s been seen in this title without her costume on. Since they suddenly call her “Jessica” here, I thought she was supposed to be New Avenger Jessica Jones – dressed up like a 19th century schoolmarm – which added more hilarious confusion to the distraction.

  22. Did one of Bendis’ kids write this issue? This was the worst written book I’ve ever seen Bendis write. He really phoned this one in.

    • I agree. It was awful. If it was 2.99 I would have given it a 2, but since it’s 3.99 it got a 1. Crap.

Last week’s New Avengers was MUCH better.

  23. Filler. Avengers #25 is solicited as being an “AvX” tie-in, but it’s really not (even if the first 2 pages make it pass for one.) Despite that fact, I enjoyed Walter Simonson’s art. This twist with Protector bothers me, because it was clearly improvised. Cap & Thor was cool, though.
