  1. Swamp thing gets better artists than Animal Man.

  2. It’s amazing the amount of interest I have lost in Swamp Thing. Gonna be patient and give it a few more chances.

    • I feel the same way, but I’ve already given up on it. I did pick up last issue though. I love Animal Man so I may give this book another chance – but I felt like it was stringing me along on a road to nowhere.

    • Have to jump in and say Swamp thing is still very good. It’s animal man thats bad. Swamp thing is written better and has much better artists. This title will remain on my pull list for a while to come.

  3. Swamp Thing has been on my pull list unofficially since december but I can’t wait to see what Scott does in this issue.

  4. I really love Scott Snyder’s Batman and have been considering jumping onto this but keep hearing mixed feeling towards it. What are everyones thoughts on it so far?

    • If you enjoy Scott Snyder’s Batman, give this Zero a try. Personally, I feel that Scott Snyder does best in the horror genre (American Vampire). Though a different tone than Batman, it’s equally engaging all for different reasons.

    • I love this and am a huge Batfan. I only read this because of Scott, and he’s not let me down. A few slow ones in the beginning but now it’s firing all guns.

    • The promised tie-ins need to deliver in a big way for me to feel vindicated for following this long past issue #7. The first 7 are awesome. Since then, not as great, but still good and still worth buying every month.

Snyder is a good writer (ref. Batman, American Vampire) so I feel pretty confident the pay off will be pleasing.

    • I love his Batman, too, but this book has left me empty and cold and disappointed. And I didn’t really enjoy what little I’ve read of American Vampire, either.

You could give this book a shot, but don’t get your hopes up too high. I would suggest Animal Man over this book, however, because that book kicks ass.

    • I have enjoyed every issue of Swamp Thing, it moved a little slow at times, but the build up has served the story well. I can’t wait for the upcoming Rotworld storyline.

    • It’s good but kind of slow. Then again, I thought Batman was slow too. I expect you would like it.

  5. Really, I see all these negative comments toward this run on Swamp Thing. Alot of people have been saying that this and Animal Man have been taking too long. I am enjoying every issue. I enjoy Swamp Thing even more then Animal Man but I look forward to both every week. I don’t understand the people who claim it is boring. Am I the only one who likes that they have taken their time to tell this story? they didn’t rush it and I love that. I think it is a full and satisfying story and I cannot wait for Rotworld!

    • No man, you are dead on. This series is awesome. Slow is okay as long as the story is building to something, in this case Rotworld is bracing to be amazing. I look forward to this book more than anything else out there right now. I’ll even go out on a limb and say Snyder is building a Swamp run that could eventually revial Alan Moore’s. Let the hate comments ensue……

    • No hate WookieLoveMachine, I agree with you.

  6. Alan Moore’s Swamp Thing has yet to be surpassed because his stories had layers of meaning. Once Scott Snyder realizes how to turn the real life horrors of variable rate loan mortgages, Occupy Wall Street, and Faith versus Science into scary monster stories he will give Moore a run for his money. And a little added poetry in the writing a la Moore won’t hurt either.

  7. This was an enjoyable issue. I really liked the cinematic feel of the little girl going to the snowy cabin and who she turned out to be. I have one complaint though- as someone who watches a lot of horror movies, one thing I’ve noticed is that the graphic killing of children is usually off limits. So I found the scene with the baby to be in very poor taste. Really, the only panel I would have changed would have been the final one on the page- I would have shown the hand/brain creeping towards the infant- and the mere suggestion of it would have been far more horrific. But like I say, still a good issue- the part with Alex’s “wife” also had the feel of a movie to me as well. This background story was a nice break from the action.
