  1. New Krypton begins! Could Olsen get any awesomer?

  2. Hmm, I’m on the fence over getting this. It’s all about the Supes these days and I had every intention of getting all the books in the upcoming New Krypton doo-dah "event", but I’m not sure just how essential this one will be.

  3. Oh, I’m sure it won’t be too essential, but I’m loving Robinson’s writing of Superman.

  4. I too doubt this will be essential. I’m just hoping it will be fun. Jimmy Olsen is pretty awesome, I like Robinson’ superman, and I want to find out what the deal is with codename assasin.

  5. Really excited for New Krypton plus a VERY light week so no reason for me not to pick this up although I thought it was going to be 3.99 not 4.99 that is pretty weak.

  6. Now that’s some great story telling on that cover!

  7. Am I gonna see the offical end of the Atlas battle here? Or see another lame one page shot of seeing nothing and not knowing how Superman beat that guy. Sorry to bring it up, but that was weak in the last issue of Superman.

On the fence with picking this up though.

  8. i wonder if new krypton will have the same format as sinistro corps war with the separate titles following different parts of the story?

having said that i can’t believe that i’m buying a book call "superman’s pal jimmy olsen"

  9. So, instead of giving any answers on Atlas in the story about him, they put out a one-shot & charge $4.99 for it?  Even if I liked Robinson’s Atlas/Krypto story (I didn’t) I’d be a bit dissapointed they would wrap up (or fill in the blanks of) the story like this. Maybe instead of a 4 issue fist fight (and paw fight) maybe they coulda told this backstory in the actual arc? What do I know though, I’m not a pro writer/editor, I just like beer & monkeys.

  10. I really liked this, and I’m really excited about the Guardian special coming up (even though he’s not the morrison/stewart guardian).

I loved the new city Robinson made in this (he’s really good with cities!) and the New Vigilante. I heard there was going to be a new Vigilante book, so I looked into it, and strangely it’s not this new Vigiilante, it’s the one making appearences in Nitewing. That’s weird they got two new Vigilantes. I just hope we continue to see this new one in Robinson’s superman run.

Also I had I migrane when I started reading this. I thought comic book day would be ruined. I thought the rest of the day would be ruined. But since I had alreadty gotten half way through this, and I wasn’t able to go home and go to sleep, I figured I should keep reading. By the time I finished my headache was nearly gone. Amazing! Thanks, Jimmy Olsen Special.

  11. i didn’t know what to think about this before i got it, because the last time jimmy was the focus of the story we got "countdown". jimmy is awesome in this story. it is a story about a guy trying to prove he can be a good reporter and uncovering a huge conspiracy. i can’t wait to see how this all ties into the new kryton story.

  12. @edward. you shouldn’t be cuz, superman’s pal jimmy olsen is awesome!!!

  13. this is what i’ve been waiting for from james robinson

  14. This was really enjoyable.  If anything, it certainly showcased Robinson’s strength in developing characters.  I am not a devout Superman reader and so, this is some of the best Jimmy Olsen I’ve ever seen.  I loved his Krypto and now his Olsen.  So, that means he’s nailing Supes’ friends (familiars? lackeys?  lickspittles?).  Lets see what happens as he zeroes in on Clark.

  15. that was a very good read. James Robinson writes supermans pal as a young adult trying to prove himself to a bunch of peers, who still see him as a teenager, and not a mentally handicapped damsel in distress who needs a big blue boyscout to come save him at a push of a button. in my opinion not since all star supes #3 has there been a better written Jimmy. Robinson really seems to have a love for the character.

i hope this isnt the last we see of the town/city of warpath and the vigilante. it would be cool to see what the American supervillains reaction is to their jobs being taken by immigrant supervillains, it could be a very good story if handled right
