  1. Dropped this series as of this issue. Its okay, but its just not as good as Demon Knights. I like the ideas behind many of the characters, but its just not jelling for me.

  2. This has been one of those titles that you can buy it and enjoy it however, if it was never on the rack or never released you would never miss it but now; it has been put out and you wanna read it every month?! Does that make any sense?? HA!
The artwork in this title so far has been exceptional and the story line seems to be all over the place and has lost me at times and even so I really do not mind.

  3. This is the first issue/series I’ve dropped. I think I’ll pick it up again when it crosses over wit Demon Knights. It’s good timing for this one since I’m not reading Voodoo or Grifter.

  4. Is this Paul Cornell’s final issue?

    • This is his last issue as the credited writer, but on Word Balloon a while back, Cornell said something to the effect that the subsequent writer will be working from the spine Cornell developed with DC before the relaunch. So while he won’t be writing, we’reit doesn’t sound like we’re getting a complete overhaul.

  5. Matt Kindt said he has a big announcement with DC tom. I hope he’s the new writer.

  6. We get Peter Milligan on this as of issue #9! He teases that the team will run a course with a red lantern and an old Stormwatch team mate. My bet is on a showdown against Harry Tanner. He also teases more about the Shadow Cabinet!

  7. Sad to be losing Cornell, but I’m sure Milligan will do a great job as well. I’m looking forward to the Wildstorm characters interacting soon due to the Daemonite “invasion.”

  8. This book never clicked for me under Cornell. None of the characters were particularly likeable or well developed. I’m really hoping either of the next two writers try to slow it down a bit from all the frantic craziness.

  9. Did anyone else who read this HATE the fact that Martian Manhunter HAD to explain that he was never in the Justice League, and that the words “with the Justice League” is actually a cliche in the DCU that means you’re a public hero? BS!!! Continuity be damned!!

    • Yeah, that beat confused me a bit.

Did MM mean “with” as in “a member of the team”? Because that makes no sense. Or did he mean “with” as in “on board with the concept of the team”? That makes more sense (the idea that he was a member but not on board with the methods or mission).

Still seems like a weird thing to say.

This is book is still just barely hanging in there for me.

  10. I liked this issue and this title and I think I am starting to realize why; Martian Manhunter, Midnight and Apollo. Thats why I gave it a 4 besides the artwork being so much more different than anything else that is out there right now! The story line just seems like situations and words put together just to put it together, I’m sorry thats just the way it really, really seems. The base is a sentinet alien being? Hogwash! And just plain stupid! If it was not for the art and those three heroes this would have been cancelled from issue #1!! The question is now, how much longer will myself or anyone else last??

    • I believe the “sentient ship” concept was also part of The Authority (Stormwatch off-shoot) series back in the day. I don’t think the ship had any kind of personality back then, but it was similar to what we’re seeing here.

I think the sentient ship could be a fun addition to the series. Kind of like that little hell hound in Journey into Mystery.

  11. This was my POTW. We really got the team set up and, regardless what others have said, I knew nothing about these characters but gained full knowledge of their powers and personalities in 3 issues. I really likes Harry, I hope he’s not actually “bad.”. Can’t wait to see where this goes.

  12. I love the characters and I have for a long time, so I’m holding on to see if the story can gain some traction here. However, the art REALLY isn’t doing it for me… after being introduced to the characters by talent like Brian Hitch and Frank Quietly back in the day, this just looks extremely mediocre.

  13. It’s really great to finally see Apollo is that shitty, shitty costume

  14. Hmmm may or may not continue on with this… Never read the original series.

  15. This was an alright issue. I don’t think I need to read anymore. Overall it’s been an underwhelming series, falling behind most other team books I’m reading, including Cornell’s own Demon Knights. I’m curious to see Milligan write the book so I’ll probably try it out again when he takes over.
