SIX-GUN GORILLA #1

Welcome to “the Blister” — a bizarre other-world colonized by humans sometime in the 22nd century, which quickly became a hotly-contested source of fertile land and natural resources long ago exhausted on Earth. In this new frontier, a rogue gunslinger and his companion wander across a wilderness in the grips of a civil war, encountering lawlessness, natives, and perversions of civilization in a world at the crossroads between the past and the future. The fact that said gunslinger is a bio-surgically modified silverback gorilla toting a pair of enormous revolvers is neither here nor there.

Written by Simon Spurrier (Marvel’s X-MEN LEGACY, CROSSED WISH YOU WHERE HERE), drawn by hot new talent Jeff Stokely (FRAGGLE ROCK, THE REASON FOR DRAGONS), and featuring a cover by Eisner Award-winning artist Ramón Pérez (A TALE OF SAND, WOLVERINE & THE X-MEN), SIX-GUN GORILLA is a pulpy mash-up of Western weirdness and lo-fi science fiction unlike anything else on the stands!

    Man, I am so stoked for this! Gorillas alone won’t make me pick up a book, but Stokely’s art is where it’s at! And Spurrier’s a writer I’ve been wanting to read outside the superhero genre – so yeah, get here already Wednesday!

      @jasonhart let me know how it is. With a double-sized AV out this week, there wasn’t room in the budget, but if its good I’ll make the exception and drive to my other shop to puck it up. Si Spurrrier has been doing great work in Legacy and I thought his story in Time Warp was exceptional. Also, mini or ongoing?

      @theWAC1 – My follow-up:

      Damn the fluttering of your emptying wallet walls & pick this bad boy up!

      I know I was pretty hyped for this even before reading it – which probably should have ruined it for me – except that everything in the book delivered perfectly for my tastes.

      It’s not too light or heavy; it’s written smart as hell; the art is kinetic & well-suited to the story. I wrote a more in-depth review up top… but yeah, I recommend this over any #1 issue I’ve read this year so far, easily & absolutely.

    Wasn’t sure what to expect going into SIX-GUN GORILLA, but I enjoyed everything about this – The concept, the characters and I totally loved the art by Stokley!

    Definitely on board with this one!

    A great first issue! Enjoyed the story the most, the artwork is great as well…..not what I expected, because it’s better than I expected. Definitely on-board for this mini-series! My POTW…
