  1. 8 pages for $3.99!!! They can (as they say in scotland) get te fuck!!!

  2. I’ll put this one on the list, but 8 new pages for $4 is ridiculous. However, I don’t think I’ve read any of the reprint issues, but really? Again, if I’m in the X-mas mood, then maybe.

  3. I hate hate hate these books with all the reprints. Enough with the reprints Marvel! Sometimes, it can work – last week’s Thor one shot had a reprint which made total sense – but this one can get te fucked indeed!

Would it really have killed Marvel to give Janet a proper send off? DC did it properly with that rather moving Martian Manhunter Final Crisis one shot, but this just looks cheap.

  4. I chatted to the guy in the comic book shop about this. They over ordered because the details in the solicitations were secret until the end of Secret Invasion. Now they are stuck with  shed loads of the fuckers.

  5. I was a bit pissed when I finally saw the declassified solicits.  Never would have pre-ordered if I knew it was 8 pages for the $3.99 price point.

  6. Jesus, what is Marvel thinking here? 4 bucks for just 8 pages of real story? I know someone will come in and say ‘hey guys dont be too upset, we get reprints of old stories!’

That doesnt qualify for a ridiculous price for just a simple Requiem for a C level character. DC looks a hell of a lot better with their Requiem already, and Marvel’s Requiem isnt even out yet!

  7. WTF Marvel?

  8. hahahahahahahahahahaha honestly who will buy it when u can read it really quick in the store

  9. Here’s something that has been bugging the crap out of me since SI #8:

Who the hell really cares about Wasp dying? I mean really….it’s not like Marvel was ramping her up to be a great character again. She’s just been a minor character for Mighty Avengers and her Ultimates counterpart has been pretty much used very little in U3.

Seriously, it makes no sense why Marvel is hyping the crap out of her death when they bothered to make her a great character to begin with.

  10. Sorry for the double post but:

*didnt bothered is what I ment to say

  11. I care alot about the wasp dying. Although it’s probably because I’ve been reading the Essential Avengers.

  12. @cman12 Same here, its the best stuff on earth

  13. Wasp is an founding memeber of the Avengers, her dying is important.

  14. wow..8 pages..I pulled this before reading the review.  Im definatley passing !!!

  15. @conor: So is Hulk, Thor, and Iron Man…and Marvel would’ve done a much better job setting up the death then Bendis did for Wasp.

How can we care about a character when she cared more about her looks then fighting a battle in Mighty Avengers? Or just have Bendis rushing her death by saying ‘Oh yeah Skrulls made her a bomb and Thor just used a tornato to ‘kill’ her’.

No chance for sympathy when he fucks up a death like that.

  16. I care about the Wasp. this issue is bullshit. 8 pages, gimme a break. PASS

  17. Also, how can you have a great ‘tribute’ to a character when it’s only 8 pages long? Even if Wasp isnt the greatest or most important character ever; thats just insulting to people who are fans of the character.

At least DC did the most sensible thing and made Martian Manhunter’s Requiem a great read and made it one of the best tributes to a fictional character ever. Marvel is just looking for dough that’s all this one-shot is for.

  18. I like Wasp.  I think her death was very important.

  19. I agree, the death of the Wasp is important, in spite of the fact that she seems to have taken a back seat in recent years. However, an 8 page story and some reprints is not how you pay tribute to a founding member of the biggest team in the Marvel universe. (See Final Crisis: Requiem to see how it is done.) And while I understand the need for secrecy, if I owned an LCS, I’d be furious if I ordered this heavily, only to find out that it was a great big reprint.

And I’ll be damned if this isn’t 2 weeks in a row that Marvel has put a $4 price tag on a fraction of a story. Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice, get te fuck, indeed.

  20. marvel did something very similar a few years ago with a spider-woman oneshot that had an 8 page bendis penned and mays drawn story and the rest was reprints…so despite being a hardcore bendis fan, i did not pick it up.  the sick thing is, i bet in a year and a half a book like this will be that o soo precious LCS mainstays known as the dollar (or in my LCS’ case 3 for a dollar) bins.

  21. I do think Jan’s death deserved 22 pages, but I expect this will end up in my stack regardless.

  22. i decided i’m not getting it, i have the other two stories being reprinted and i can just read a friends copy

  23. Well I havent read the two stories being reprinted so why not?

  24. Wow, 8 pages for $4! and here i was thinking only bendis got paid that much per page! my lcs makes us put in our orders months in advance (we just put in march orders) so im stuck with buying it… Lame.

  25. After seeing that only 8 pages are in fact new… yeah never mind on pulling this one.

  26. Well, at the store I peeked inside this and saw Jacosta so I couldn’t resist buying it. I’m pretty glad I did.

  27. the re-coloring on the older stories is awesome.

  28. It didn’t end up in my box, so I didn’t buy it. I also couldn’t justify reading it in the store, so I think I’m happy to live without. She got a pretty good send-off in Mighty Avengers last week anyway.

  29. No reason to get upset at the Wasp dying, she is in "anti-pym" land and Reed Richards and the FF will find her and she will be back in a year and a half.

Over /Under on Wasps return: 18 months…. what you got?

  30. wow, wasted my money on this one

  31. I’d take that over-under if there were any clarity to what happened to her.

  32. NO! They re-colored everything. The Kirby/Heck artwork is GORGEOUS and translates amazingly well with the new coloring. Just look at the reprint stuff. It’s beautiful and worth the money!!!
