“TOMBSTONE BLUES”

That’s right, pardners, it’s a brand new rip-roaring adventure of the Rawhide Kid! When Wyatt and Morgan Earp are taken hostage by Cristo Pike and his pack of pistoleros, Rawhide has no choice but to put together a posse of the greatest western heroes in the Marvel Universe – to rescue the Earp brothers and bring Pike to justice. Enter: Kid Colt, Doc Holliday, Annie Oakley, Billy the Kid, Red Wolf and the most overrated gun in the West: The Two-Gun Kid! We guarantee the Wild West can’t get any wilder.

  1. Can anyone tell me if this is more straightforward than the Max series was? Gay cowboy jokes can only take a comic so far and the last series was about 3 or 4 issues too long.

  2. Hey look, it’s the guy who wrote one of the worst, most offensive comics I’ve ever read, back on the same title.  Guess who’s not paying for it.

  3. @josh:….conor?

  4. Is this at all like Jonah Hex? If so, I’d be interested.

  5. @THX

    Buy more Jonah Hex instead.

  6. So, is he gay in this one or has that been retconned?  I might pick it up if he’s still gay.  Otherwise I’ll pass.

  7. I got through the first issue of the last Rawhide Kid and never picked up any of the others , I am not against a gay charecter but an offensive stereotype I can’t abide . I am hoping this goes back to the classic Rawhide kid , with Howard Chaykin art it should be worth a look . But if it is the same gay joke as the last one I will pass .

This line in the solicit makes me assume that he is, in a most stereotypical sense (as I’ve heard that he was portrayed in the original MAX series):

"The best-dressed gunslinger the Wild West ever knew…"

  9. Should have read the comments before buying this. I was hoping for the old style Rawhide Kid I grew up with. The tongue-in-cheek gay cowboy stuff is pretty awful.

  10. I never read the last one, and I have no hopes at all for this one based on what I’ve heard.  However, it’s Chaykin and I love Chaykin and always will.  I’ll be looking at the pictures and that will probably be all.

  11. I’m gay and I’m not offended by it at all. I enjoyed it for what it was – a fun and campy series that people took way too seriously. I’m all for portraying gay characters across the spectrum.
