  1. This is an amazing book, although I really don’t know what the hell is going on. Does anyone know what’s going on? Maybe it’s just me…

    • From what I gather/I could be wrong: *SPOILERS*

[SPOILING SHIT] There is some earth empire who we thought were the good guys, because hey, we’re from earth, so that makes sense. It seems like, to ensure human survival, they’ve cloned this John Prophet dude, cause he musta been a badass, and seeded the universe/galaxy with prophets. They’ve got some code written into so that they do what is best for the earth empire or whatever it is (they’re visions and shit)… but then here comes the real John Prophet who is apparently against this empire, and not happy that they’ve cloned him. I think we’re going to find out that they’re really the bad guys and the original prophet is gonna right shit. [DONE SPOILING]

    • Theres a new interview on Newsarama with Brandon Graham and he said each artist is representing a different John Prophet which actually clears up a lot because it just felt a little chaotic. The artists are all going to rotate.

    • Thanks, diebenny! Guess I spaced reading these issues so far apart that I lost track of what was happening. The art can be a little tricky at times too, but that’s one of the things I like about it.

  2. This is an amazing book! I’m tradewaiting on it purely because there is a lot going on and I think it will read better that way but I have been loving it and it has been killer to not buy the monthlies these past few issues.

    • I’m exactly the same & at $9.99 when the first trade is out in August what a bargain (same goes for Glory as well).

    • I don’t know if it’s going to read as well in the trade. I think the spacing of the issues and giving them some breathing room helps this series.

    • Well I am an optimistic chap!

    • I don’t know if I agree on the trade thing, I am not as lost or confused as some with this book and I read the first few issues monthly and to me when I re-read them together it felt more satisfying. I think this is going to be a perfect trade situation personally. There is enough going on and if I’m correct enough to delve into that the wait between trades will even be enough. It is everything in my power to not double-dip on this book.

  3. In a week of strong offerings from the Big Two, Prophet is still the comic I’m looking forward to most. And I think Graham is writing AND DRAWING this issue(?), which will be very interesting.

  4. Okay, while I do like the not knowing WTF is going on, eventually something has to be explained on what is going.

  5. A week with a new Prophet and Manhattan Projects? Best week of the month, easily.

  6. I’m also in the “what the hell is going on here?!” camp but somehow Prophet does it without being frustrating in a Lost-esque way (sorry Lost fans). I’m just happy to follow the character(s) along on their bizarre journey. I’m sure information about the larger story will be released on a need-to-know basis. Currently I’m happy not needing to know, I accept everything that happens just because, in Prophet, it simply can.

    • I agree. I figured we’re supposed to be a little confused, and I think that lends itself to the crazy world we’re being shown. It definitely ups the weird factor. And yeah, this is the book I’m most looking forward to this week, but I get the feeling Batman Inc will get POTW without even being objectively weighed against other comics coming out. I think that’s kinda sad (probably partly because I’m really not a fan of that book).

    • You should be a fan. Prophet and Batman INC are like cheese and crackers

  7. Couldn’t be happier that this comic exists and that I am on board with it. Great time for Sci-Fi comics.

I think Graham is writing and drawing this one, should be cool.

  8. Comic of the month, every month. Can’t wait to see Graham’s own artistic take on the Prophet universe., and the Emma Rios backup looks mental!

I wonder if the stories will be sorted chronologically in the TPB? Hopefully get to see the end of Darymple’s bit soon…

  9. Re: “What’s going on?”

Er, thought it was pretty obvious. There are a bunch of cloned John Prophets who help colonize/reawaken humanity on different worlds. Then there is the original John Prophet, whom we’ve just met, who is not happy about this.
