  1. For Dynamo 5 and Noble Causes fans – this is Jay Faerber’s entry in the Pilot Season stunt. I know I’m giving it a look.

  2. Totally looking forward to this – the previews looked great

  3.

I’m very excited by the potential of this book. Given half a chance (which i hope the book will get during Pilot Season voting) a very strong set of mythology and charactors could be built.

and Jack Medusa possibly has the strongest visual for a new character in quite a while. Someone who could be instantly accessible through a wide variety of media.

Faerber can do no wrong at the moment.

  4. I LOVED this issue.

New. Fresh. Smart. AND the art was tremendous. Molina’s art is a neat blend of Ramos and Meglia.

    My Top of the Stack.

  5. MORE FUN THAN A SWIM DOWN IN HADES

This is a fun book – pure and simple. Those of you who are used to excellent work by Jay Faerber in Dynamo 5 and Gemini won’t be disappointed.  The characters are simple, as is the plot: Jack Kaklamanis (aka Jack Medusa) is the son of Medusa and a blind man (figure it out) who is a private detective. His world is the Greek myths come to life in modern times: centaurs are policemen, cyclopses are street thugs, etc. His assignment requires him to go to Hades to rescue a little girl whose father has died and she’s gone down there to get him back. The plot and character development are presented quickly and concisely – very effective. The artwork by Jorge Molina is phenomenal. It features crisp lines, clever angles, great use of lighting and perfect colors. And Jack? He’s no superhero, which makes things very interesting. He’s basically a tough guy who can fight, but when outmatched his weapon of last resort is – you guessed it – turning others to stone (his dead mother’s curse passed down to him). We get a whole lotta story in this single issue – a self-contained story that takes us all over the city (somewhere on Earth, cause when you die you go to Hades) as well as the underworld and back again. The catch is that this is one of Top Cow’s "Pilot Season" books, which means it’s here for one night only, unless we vote it in. Top Cow has six books in this year’s Pilot Season, and only two of them are getting picked up. You have to go to myspace.com/pilotseason to help make this book a permanent addition to the shelf at your LCS. Please go and vote for Urban Myths!
