NEW MUTANTS #10

Why do the New Mutants exist? Why are they a team? Cyclops runs the X-Men as one giant army, not separate squads. So, why do the New Mutants exist as a squad? The answer isn’t what you expect.

  1. Nice homage cover.

  2. Wasn’t a big fan of the last issue when I jumped on, but I’ll give this at least until the Siege issue.

  3. I had dropped this, but the premise of this issue seems interesting, so I’ll give it a shot.

Waiting till issue 10 to tell us why the team exists, though, is ridiculous. The questions posed in the solicit are the same questions that a lot of skeptical fans had going in. Not saying this is all a bad thing, though; it’s actually nice to have these questions addressed and presumably answered now in a hopefully clever way. (Too bad Cyke won’t break the 4th wall and explain to Sam that there’s such things as branding, name-recognition, and catering to aging readers who want to remember the lost properties of their youth. 😉 )

  4. Isn’t it time to retire the title "New" Mutants?  It’s kind of like saying the Beach "Boys".

  5. this is the best x title

  6. I’m dropping this before the next uber-crossover begins, but this and issue 11 I’m still going to get.  Haven’t been real impressed with the relaunch.  I wasn’t following Necrosha, so those issues were kind of pointless.

  7. This has been a good series. Certainly better than the drudgery that X-Men Legacy has become.

  8. I think Zeb has a really good grasp of the characters, and I’ve really enjoyed the last few.  I guess this issue will be more of the monotonous one-note Cyclops though.

  9. This is my first time picking up the title. Just mainly because #11 is on the SIEGE checklist. I’m really looking forward to reading this.

  10. This is a good jumping on point, I think. A great single issue.

  11. I loved this issue.  Much better than last.  I agree that this would be a great jumping on point.  I had to keep a finger in the page that said what everyone’s powers were for reference, but other than that perfect issue for a new reader.

  12. This is the best X-Book going right now!

@PhantomPhrenemy  It doesnt matter if you were following Necrosha as a whole.  The New Mutants issues reintroduced TWO classic characters.  I hardly call that pointless. And the las Megacrossover was Messiah Complex, the best X-Crossover in the last 10 years.

  13. wasn’t intending to get this, but damn was it fun.  the Lopez pages were pretty good, but Paul Davidson! wow! where did this guy come from?

  14. Best issue so far, and I’ve been enjoying NM thuroughly.

  15. I’m surprised by all the positive reaction, I didn’t enjoy this as much as the last few NM issues.  The "Cyclops looking for a leader" concept is kind of weak, although I’m guessing its gonna be a plot device to get Dani Moonstar onto the A-Listers.
