  1. Happy to see the return of Element Woman.

I wonder if the Flashpoint reality Outsider will ever get introduced into continuity.

  2. Finally! Flash front and center on the cover.

  3. Especially looking forward to the back-up. Hopefully we’ll see Black Adam in action for a couple pages at least.

  4. I’m on the fence with this one. Last issue’s main story was a letdown. I don’t know if I can justify spending $4 just to read the Shazam! backup. How is it the same Geoff Johns writing the two stories in this book?

  5. I’m looking forward to Shazam more than JLA. Crazy, but true!

  6. Loving the david graves story. Thats what I’m buying for.

  7. i enjoy both stories of this title, thoroughly. start to finish. if i didn’t, there would be no fence riding for me. that’s for the birds. if ya can’t justify spending 4 bucks on this title, the solution is simple: Don’t.
    remember, you turn the screws.

  8. I’m still enjoying this. The Graves story has promise. And the backup finally has my attention.

Don’t see the appeal of Element Woman. She got on my nerves during Flashpoint. I’d rather have Rex or Shift back, personally.

  9. I think the common theme for this book is that people read it for the 10 page Shazam story and could care less about the League. I wish DC would realize that and give Shazam his own monthly title. Wave 3 is coming and there is still no sign of it. At least issue 0 looks like it’ll be all Shazam.

    • Don’t kid yourself. As much as I’d love to see a Shazam book it does not put up numbers like Justice League.

    • That’s a pretty big leap. Personally I’ve enjoyed the main title. The backup only just got my attention with Black Adam. No creative team in the world could make a solo Shazam title match numbers with a Lee/Johns Justice League.

    • I enjoy both the main story and the back up, thank you very much.

  10. @ultimate rich, johns & frank are incredibly unlikely to work on a Shazam ongoing, does the power of Shazam by jt krul & dan jurgens sound good to you? Because that’s what you’re gonna get:)

    • Nope, that sounds terrible. It doesn’t have to be Johns as he is pretty stretched, but it has to be Gary Frank on art as he is utterly FAN-FRICKIN-TASTIC!!!

Give it to Brian Azzarello! He is knocking it out of the park with Wonder Woman.

    • @monsterduc1000: Gary Frank can’t do a monthly book. Besides, he’s devoting most of his time right now to BATMAN: EARTH ONE, VOL. 2.

  11. Why are there ratings (pick of the week) on this and other
books at 7:30am Wednesday morning? Do digital comics get
    released at midnight?

    • A couple of guesses as to why ratings and/or reviews often get posted so early on Wednesday…

Those who get ‘comp’ issues and/or dealers (including comic shop workers), who get their books on Tuesday will often flex their advantaged muscles and rush to exercise their input.

Digital comics, as I understand it, are not released until early afternoon on Wednesday.

      Hope this helps!

    • Because some people are time-travellers! 😉

  12. I got a feeling Green Lantern is going to be killed next issue. That’s what the shocking revelation will be i bet.

  13. Ummm…Element Woman was not in this issue. FYI.

  14. Loved the artwork on this issue. Best since the first couple of issues for sure.

  15. There’s some great stuff in here, but the in-fighting seems a little forced at times. Kinda like they’re trying to ape another successful team know for not getting along…

That aside, this issue was pretty affecting. That last page hit like a ton of bricks.

SHAZAM continues to be perfect in every way.

  16. Not sure what Element Woman has to do with this issue. Weird solicitation. Anyway, decent issue, big bang boom. I am interested to learn more about this new villain though.

  17. The main story and the backup are equally slow and underwhelming. I continue to read because I’m a Johns completist and because I’m looking forward to the Vertigo-esque Trinity War crossover.

  18. Haven’t read this yet, but I buy the combo pack that comes with the digital code. Both this issue and number 10 were blank where the codes were supposed to be. Anyone else? Also what the hell how can that happen two times in a row? I emailed dc and never received a response for issue 10. Stay classy dc.

    • Although that is shitty of DC, I can’t imagine your local comic book store wouldn’t refund your 2$ or whatever if you showed them the blank spaces where the codes were supposed to be.

    • I brought 10 into the store today and the guy who runs my lcs sent someone an email who is supposed to get me a code. But it still stings like a mouth full of sores. Finished the issue, good stuff. Digging the shazam backup, but it is sure taking its sweet time to get to the big red cheese.

    • That’s quite unfortunate. I had a similar issue with a Marvel title (can’t remember what it was, maybe an Ultimate book) where it provided an invalid code. I e-mailed their technical support stating my situation, and extremely promptly (an hour or two MAX) received an apology and a valid download code.

  19. Although I felt that there was a little too much exposition with the revelations about Graves, I was more into the story with this issue than I have been lately.

I was legitimately worried about Steve Trevor throughout this one. The pacing and tone were excellent, as was the cliffhanger on the final page. The splash page of Wonder Woman punching Green Lantern and breaking his construct was immense! It showed how powerful Wonder Woman actually is and highlighted her own tensions.

In addition, the backup feature (as I’ve said elsewhere) is worth $3.99 all on its own (its £3.30 here in the UK) and just continues to get better and better.

  20. This book is not for me, but the backup is fantastic. This JL just lacks any substance whatsoever, the characters are far too one dimensional and barely resemble themselves from their own titles, the villain thus far is weak and I just feel like I’m looking at these cutlets of characters being put into new backgrounds. Jim Lee’s art this issue was very very good, I’ll give him that. I don’t know which is worse (for my tastes), AvX or JL. But I am really loving the backup story. I think I’m getting to the point where I am far too bored with superheroes hitting stuff.

  21. Someone above used the adjective “underwhelming” and I feel this title as a whole – Shazam story included – is underwhelming.

I may well drop this after the arc is through. I am not getting enough enjoyment out of this title.

  22. Wonder Woman kicked ass in this issue. It was worth it for that alone!

  23. Justice League #11 did not do much to advance the plot, but the amazon freakout was worth the purchase; strangely enough, this was the best pencilled portion of the book; I did not enjoy the art before or after the fight. And wasn’t the explanation for the Asura deities a bit too much?

  24. I gave this a 3/5, and that was generous. Without the art, it would’ve been a solid 2-.

I’m givin’ Johns til the end of this arc to do something worth $3.99.

  25. Again, Jim Lee was easily outperformed by Gary Frank. Story was well done on both parts.

  26. getting this

  27. one of the few books worth my 4dollars.
it baffles my mind to hear so much negativity.
i love the art. lee and frank are fuckin’ awesome.
and aside from an interesting new villain, i enjoy the back and forths between the team members. i especially appreciate the sense of humor that johns is displayin’. flash and lantern are the new blue and gold(toned down a bit, but still) and i think that’s great. i love the old Justice league Int. and i feel there’s a slight tip of the hat to that generation.
WW has been nicely highlighted throughout this relaunch and this issue was no exception. she is one BAD MOTHERFUCKER! it says so on her wallet.
    5/5

  28. I really liked this issue. I think I would buy this even if there was no dialogue just to look at the art. The art in this series has been the best I have ever seen I think. Awesome job! I’m liking both stories too. Who didn’t laugh out loud when Cyborg asked if he was dancing the line between alive and dead and Batman said, “Of course not.” LOL I kind of hope they don’t start a Shazam solo title because then I will have to check that out too. 😉
