  1. Hell yes!! This should be an awesome issue as last issue was so damn creepy and the villian was so damn evil!! Lets do this!!

    K

  2. I’m all over this. However, I’ve been buying this mostly on Jim Lee’s art. If he’s sharing the majority of this, I may be outta here.

  3. i have been counting the days. only 2 more to go.

  4. Oh no! Everyone dies in this issue! Just kidding…cool cover, I wonder what this villain’s power is?

    Also he might be too…villain-y?

  5. This series has really perked up over the last two issues, looking forward to this.

  6. I think I’m switching to digital with this issue…and waiting a month to buy it. I think I’ll enjoy this book more paying $1 less for it.

  7. Avatar photo consafo80 (@consafo80) says:

    love the cover

  8. This series has been okay so far, I’m kind of disappointed with it because it’s Geoff Johns and the stuff he’s doing with Green Lantern and Aqua Man has been amazing and this has been okay. But the last issue got my attention to get excited for what’s to come. But if this sucks at least I get those back-ups with Captian Marvel…um I mean Shazam that I have been liking.

  9. I wonder when we’ll get some new members in the team. Element Woman, Atom, etc.

  10. Cool cover, but I think this book has been cookie-cutter at best. There’s no way I’m dropping it ‘cuz it’s Justice League, but because it’s Justice League it should be much better.

  11. Is there such a thing as rushed Lee art? Because if there is, I’d say some of these panels qualify. I’m a lifelong fan, and mind you sub-par Lee art is still better than most superhero pencils out there, but some of the panels here didn’t feel very Lee-like. Maybe his style’s evolving (though why start now?), or maybe he’s making an effort to keep up. I can appreciate both possibilities. Just sayin’. Kinda weird.

I’m still enjoying this more than most folks here seem to. The banter still hasn’t gotten old for me, though I didn’t really dig all the reporter discussion. Didn’t Bruce already mention the fact that Clark was a reporter in front of everyone? Why are we still talking about this?

I really like Graves’ villain design. Not sure about the faces on his chest and arms, but I like it overall. I’m really curious to see how this plays out. I had to chuckle at the teaser for next issue; “NEXT: The unknown becomes the known.” Somehow I doubt it, Geoffrey.

This was my favorite chapter of SHAZAM! so far. Black Adam, baby!!

  12. I am curious to find out how Graves is powerful enough to take down the whole Justice League in two minutes.

The image of Scarecrow looking like he does in the weeks issue of “Batman: The Dark Knight” was a nice bit of.synchronicity.
I’m a little lukewarm on the Shazam backup so far.

    • Yeah, not sure how I feel about Graves being that powerful, and from what we’ve seen he’s another one of those “use your fear/sadness against you” villains. Seems we’ve seen a lot of this lately in comic book land. I tried to not be so damn nit-picky this issue, and my enjoyment of it went up a notch.

  13. I dropped this a while back, but in my need to spend money I bought the fe w issues I missed, and I think this is getting better every month. Loving the Shazam back up…..Gary Frank is unbelievable.

  14. As much as I am intrigued by the JL’s new nemesis, the story is going a little slowly for me.

However, the ‘Shazam’ backup is simply tremendous. Its worth $3.99 all on its own.

Geoff Johns, Jim Lee & Gary Frank all in the same book is just a treat as far as I’m concerned.

  15. Loving this! Very interested in this new villain as well

  16. One of the best issues !

  17. This issue has that feel of the old silver age stories which is pretty cool, but I was thrown off by the fact that five years after first coming together, the leaguers still act like they are strangers to each other. Too many people got their hands in the art and it kind of showed.

  18. Good, not great.

  19. Gary Frank easily bested Jim Lee on the art side of this book. Definitely enjoyed the Shazam side of this book more than the JL side.

  20. I’m ready for some Hawkman, Green Arrow, & Atom, damnit!!!

  21. I’m on the verge of dropping this. Jim Lee’s art seemed to be lack luster in this issue and the story isn’t anything special. I need more from this title! I’m going to ride it out for a few more issues but I’m on the verge of letting this go. I could careless about Shazam so the back story so this isn’t a draw for me either.

  22. Yeah, this was an average issue for me. It’s on the bottom of my pull list so it’s on the verge of being dropped. I will still give it a few more issues though. It will be hard for me to drop Justice League since it’s Justice League. If it was $2.99 it would be harder to drop. I do like the Shazam backup story though.
