  1. Don’t know the creative team but I look forward to this.

  2. I think they’re road-testing new teams for the Batverse with this mini. With TDK coming out most Batfans will be getting this mini.

First 2 books were good, this one doesn’t look any different.

  3. Not to crazy about the artist.

  4. Man…I never knew green skin with red hair could look so hot.

I really need to take a look at what I’m doing with my life.

  5. LOL Kory.

Hopefully this book is more like the Penguin issue, and less like the Joker issue — meaning, I wanna see bad-ass villains, not G rated ones!

  6. *Looks at cover*

    …oh yeah….boring story…not so interested…….but man….what a hot villian

    *drools in cup*

  7. That penguin issue was awesome…makes me hope he’s a villian in the Dark Knight sequel (yes I am a geek for thinking about a sequel for a movie I have yet to see).  Actually I hope Riddler will be in it but with Two-face appearing in the third movie I think they’ll avoid the Batman Forever comparisons so I’ll take Penguin instead.

  8. Just one more thing.  Looking at that picture of Poison Ivy makes me want to join Greenpeace cuz plant loving chicks are HOT.

  9. @Kory – Killer Croc would be the best villian for the forth movie. (Two face is a lock for the third). He’s got a great emotional origin and could really fit into the Nolan-iverse.

  10. @Kory – I’ll see your geek and raise you an uber-nerd! I’ve been thinking about film 3 since TDK was announced. Pretty sure Brandon2’s right with Two-Face being a lock for 3. Not sure if we’ll see Penguin  or Catwoman while Nolan’s at the helm, he’s said he just doesn’t like the characters.

I’d love to see what Nolan could do with Killer Croc, how he’d ground that in the reality of his Gotham. As long as we don’t get Robin.

  11. @Brandon2= Killer Croc might be a little outlandish for the realistic take Nolan is going for.  I’m speculating because I think there will be 2 villians in the third movie as Warner Bros. might think Two-Face is’nt as big of a character as Joker to carry a whole movie and they might want another villian. If they want another villian I would love William H. Macy as the Riddler or Philip Seymour Hoffman as Penguin.

  12. @Kory – Yeah I see your point about Killer Croc being a little too out there. The origin’s great but Nolan’s already dispanded the idea of having to do an origin with just having The Joker be.. well, The Joker.

I guess this is why I’ll be surprised if Nolan stays on after the third film (assuming he does one), as the further down the rogue’s gallery you go the more outlandish they become.

  13. these have all been good so far. im excited for more of these!!

  14. Seems I remember Nolan saying he was not keen on doing a third Batman film.

But it’s fun to speculate. In a third Nolan Batman film I think any of the following antagonists would fit:

    Victor Zsaz
    Deadshot
    Scarecrow (more prominently)
    Ra’s (returns with Talia)
    Superman

  15. I agree JumpingJupiter — Mr Zsaz would be AWESOME.

If Nolan doesn’t continue the franchise, let’s just hope they never let Joel "let’s make Batman look as gay as possible" Schumacher any where near a bat-flick ever again.

  16. @Wade – I read one review for TDK today that said Warners better prey Nolan wants to do a third film, because after this one every other director would be too scared to even try. How awesome is that?!

He’ll do a third. He’s saying he’s not keen, but he said that after Batman Begins too, and look what we’ve got now. I really think he’ll want to finish his trilogy.

Zsaz would be great, thinking about it. And JumpingJupiter also brought up another great idea – Talia would be a great villain. It ties up the trilogy, and it’s not so ‘out there’ that Nolan couldn’t ground it.

  17. Let’s start a collection to pay Nolan extra to do a sequel.

  18. Zsasz was in the first film.

  19. A little bit yes.

  20. Though it seems to be a no-no for Nolan, I think Catwoman as a cigarette smoking bad ass burgular could work. That or Philip Seymour Duncan as Penguin, that would be sweet.

  21. After reading this…MAN I never wanna piss off and environmentalist wacko.  This book scared me from ever going to Starbucks again, and you’ll definitely never see me at a Phish concert.

This was the worst of the three…but I liked seeing more Batman in it.

  22. @Conor – Zsasz was barely in it, and he wasn’t really Zsasz. Maybe it’s because, being a Brit, it’s hard to take Zsasz seriously when he’s played by the singer of the band who did the 90’s drunken pub sing-along ‘Sit Down’.

  23. @ Kory: I thought this issue was pretty good actually.

  24. ……Oh yeah drugs, you guys gotta do drugs…..

    (still drooling at cover)

  25. I realize it has probably been done many times before, but I liked spelling out the motivations of Ivy (more of a crazed, demented, eco-terrorist; rather than a villain driven solely by greed or evil … she believes her actions are just).  It seems this is a character with much more potential for future development.  The scene with her victim tied to the bed gave me nasty flashbacks to the movie Misery (except Ivy is much hotter than Kathy Bates … and greener).  I just don’t understand why Batman does not carry a can of Weed-Be-Gone spray in that utility belt (you know Adam West would have been more prepared).

  26. @JumpingJupiter:  Excellent idea (re: Penguin casting).  Philip Seymour Hoffman would be an inspired piece of casting for the Penguin.

I think there is a lot of room to evolve the character far beyond the troll-like, buffoon offered by DeVito and Burton (can’t get much worse than a funeral parade of penguins).  I would like to see "the Penguin" portrayed more as a tuxedo wearing, ruthless, crime syndicate type (ala, the "Kingpin") in any future sequels … (I thought Mission Impossible 3 was a lame movie, but I liked Hoffman’s cold blooded, Bond-type villain in it).

  27. Nobody likes my idea of William H. Macy as Riddler?  Go with the origin form the animated series he would be perfect.  He looks like a nerd who would be out for vengeance.

  28. @Kory – I do like the idea of Bill Macy as Riddler, a lot in fact. They just seem to casting a bit younger for these films. Doesn’t mean it wouldn’t work though. Good suggestion, dude! 🙂

  29. I thought this issue was pretty good. Maybe because I read a lot of negative shit about it before I read the issue, I expected it to be worse. So, it was a nice surprise. I liked it a lot more than the G rated Joker we got in issue #1. Nice origin story for new readers & some nice green eye candy for long time fans like me.

What exactly was the decoy, though? A walking plant in a dress? I didn’t get that part.

@Kory — William H. Macy sounds like a good idea to me … either him or Jim Carrey.

     (Joke)

  30. @Wade – Yeah, looked like some sort of wood/tree thing. That was the only thing that took me out of what was otherwise a great story. But Ivy was beautifully drawn in this. And I loved The Joker’s line at the start… "Take it from me, she’s a natural green."

  31. I don’t know precisely what the decoy was but yeah, some sort of walking tree/plant.

I though Ivy wasn’t drawn tha great actually. Strange teardrop-shaped boobs, barbie long legs. Her facial expressions were great and I like how March drew her eyes.
