JOHN BYRNE NEXT MEN #6

The American Civil War grinds to its grim conclusion, with one last act to be written in blood across the pages of history. But what if someone from the future had prior knowledge of that act? And took steps to prevent it? And what if that someone was Tony Murcheson?

  1. Still buying this although I have no idea why. John Byrne’s stored-up goodwill is almost done.

  2. Yep.. I’m ready to drop it. I was praying it was a mini.. but no such luck

  3. I’ve never read Next Men before but I’ve been enjoying this the whole time.  Guess I had different expectations than you guys.

  4. Well John Byrne won this week.

The solict and cover are crazy and makes no sense…..I really want to try this in trade whenever it comes out.

  5. Are you guys kidding, this has been great, especially tony’s story!

  6. I’ve been liking it, but liking it on a three star kinda of a way.

  7. It was better than previous issues because it focused on one character rather than the Byrne-like “Meanwhile…” cuts back and forth. However, this is 6 issues in, and the band is not close to being back together. I’m losing interest. What about Mark IV, Sathanas, public release of powers, etc. that were left hanging from the last series? I can’t take much more of the “when are they getting back?” story. And I’m saying this as dedicated Byrne fan who started this series with the first appearance in Dark Horse Presents.

  8. Enjoyed it, although I would have much preferred including the plot lines of the others (Bethany, Jazz, poor Nathan, and Father Jack). I’m a John Byrne fan from way back then (mid 80’s) and when Byrne goes back to superheroes, whether his own or the Big Two, I’m buying right away. Enough of Star Trek, please!

  9. I’m ok with them leaving parts of the original series behind, I think too much backstory could kill this book.  Byrne is funny with his team books, I remember that Alpha Flight never really fought together after issue #1.  I agree with Brianiac6’s first sentence that this was more powerful because it didn’t jump around between the characters.

  10. What a terrific solo Tony Murcheson story!  I have sympathized with her since the new series began.  She’s been through a lot physically and emotionally, yet she has remained steadfast to her identity.  I admire the way she continued to literally kick ass throughout this issue.  This episode ends with a great cliffhanger.  I eagerly await the next issue!
