  1. the first issue of this series may have been the worst single issue i read this year. absolutely no redeeming features to this terrible marketing gimmick of a comic. i would stay away from this

  2. I loved the first issue. It brought me back to when I was a kid reading the 1st issue of Youngblood and Spawn. I think it’s just supposed to be fun, and that was what the 1st issue was.

  3. @edward – really? I didnt think it was that bad, actually i kind of enjoyed it. I’ve read far worse comics than this this year

  4. Marketing gimmick? this is just a bunch of guys having fun with their friends trying something with their art.

unless this book sells SEVEN TIMES their usual books numbers its not going to make them any more money.

  5. @leigh: sure it is, sure it is. that’s why i didn’t here anything about the art jam before teh book started

  6. @edward maybe your "hereing" just isn’t that that good, its been the major part of the announcement from day one

  7. @liegh: thank you for pointing that typo out. i was being sarcastic. of course, i knew about the art jam. like you said, it was a major part of the announcement from day one — because it was a marketing gimmick.

     thanks for proving the point

  8. Image United = iFanboy Divided

  9. Yea. I think they should have kept it secret so nobody could accuse them of trying to sell a book.

  10. @edward I really should have guessed your sarcasm, seeing how this book is something you would "stay away from" yet keep returning to the thread.

Knowing you love to waste time so much, why don’t you continue to pick up the book, I’m sure the guys who worked on this would love to have more of your money.

  11. @Leigh: nah, dude, i’m not buying any more issues. But! i am going to complain about the shittiness of the first one

  12. I’m thinking about picking this up. I’m a big fan of Al Simmons Spawn from the early days of Image. I know Edward doesn’t like it, and I understand his reasoning, but is there any appeal if your a fan of these characters from when the company started? Just to give you a sense: in 1999 someone gifted me the first 25 issues of Spawn. Reading those issues and then picking up the back issues got me back into. With Spawn 181 I gave up on the book, I just didn’t care anymore. But I love those first 40 issues of the series.

  13. @Edward – You must have this confused with Ultimatum.  That was the worst comic ever.  Issue #1 of this was really good, yet just the setup for the series.

  14. This series is GREAT!  Is anyone else surprised that issue #2 came out a month after the #1.  This series had the potential of going the way of Youngblood Bloodsport #1, which was released at San Diego in…2003.  No sign of #2…

  15. I was surprised as well to see it come out monthly so far however I’m still not really enjoying it.

  16. This may come across as a surprise to some of you, but I’m a bit disappointed in Kirkman’s performance in this issue. I mean I know he’s got a shitload going on, but some sentence fragments make me suspicious if he read his dialogue aloud. There’s a specific page I could bring up, but I’m past that stage of fandom and will draw the line there. I just hope the next issue doesn’t read so wonky. Once or twice is fine, but after half a dozen times and you’re pulled out of the story indefinetly.

  17. I’m only halfway through this book and it sucks so much that I’m not sure I want to finish it.  Not even Kirkman can make this 90s drek interesting.  Seems like only Larsen drew backgrounds while others just did pin-ups which is part of what was terrible about the 90s book.

  18. Finished it.  It didn’t get any better.  This was really bad.

  19. The art worked for me the first issue.. This time it just got worse.

  20. hey guys!!

i read a friend’s copy so i could continue to comment. THIS SUCKED BALLS

    Bye

  21. @edward:  Yeah, that’s pretty accurate.  I doubt I’ll be commenting on the remaining issues because I’m not wasting my money buying them nor my time reading them….. except for the damn interlude which is apparent;y pulling Invincible into this mess…….. ARRRRGHHH!!!  Kirkman, please don’t fuck up the Invinciverse with this crap.

  22. wow, I liked the first one but this horsecrap is just horrible. I had to force myself to finish it and that was not fun at all.

  23. @400yrs: i think kirkman said in a talksplode podcast that invincible won’t appear in this steaming turd. kirkman gave same weakass excuse about not wanting to distill the the idea by including non-original image characters (that’s why witchblade is front and centre)

no, here’s what happened. kirkman’s smart. kirkman said ‘yes, i’ll write your stupid vanity project but there is no way you idoits are including my character which actually has a tiny bit of intelligence and quality behind it involved…. just write a check’

Like i said – this is fucking terrible
