HAWK AND DOVE #4

Following last issue’s ultra-brawl with Condor and Swan through the halls of the White House, Hawk and Dove have more questions than answers! Luckily for them, they’ve taken a prisoner! But even as they begin to question him, sinister forces align with a new target in mind: Dove’s boyfriend, Deadman! Can Dove protect the man she loves, or will her ghostly lover fall into darkness?

  1. For me – the first issue was mediocre, the second issue was pretty good, the third sucked. Maybe I’m tired of the lazy art. Maybe I’m tired of long fight scenes and minimal story. I will glance at it in the store, but it’s not nearly as fun as I hoped it would be – I know Sterling Gates can do much better.

    • I’d agree with this assessment; issue four I’d say was closer to the levels of issue #2 though. I’m staying with it because this an OMAC both are fun to read after some of the other stuff that comes out this week every month.

  2. Its not Sterling so much as the artwork is just well Liefeld old and tired need I say more!

    • Yeah, I didn’t want to jump too much on bashing Liefeld, but he’s bringing Sterling’s work down rather than Sterling bringing Rob’s work up – which was what I had hoped would happen instead.

  3. Mind you back in the day he was cutting edge art however now; its just so bland and lifeless. I feel bad because I used to like Rob’s work and now I can’t get into it and I think it is really killing this title. The story and direction of the book is keeping me around the art is just lagging behind.

  4. Still enjoying this book a lot, although, and I am a liefield fan, even though Wantabe looks like the guy from the infinite.
