  1. That can’t be Peter Quill, can it?

  2. Hooked by the artist, but I’ll stay for the story!

  3. To buy or not to buy…

  4. DnA’s GotG was one of my favorite comics of the last ten years, but I’m more than ready to see another team’s take on the mythos. Onward!

  5. Not really into this team but picking it up cause of Steve McNiven

  6. Argh! Come on, Marvel. 0.1? Really? You guys are doing so good right now. Nobody is clamoring for stupid point one issues to muck it all up.

  7. I’m actually really excited for this.

  8. I hope this is better than the Nova relaunch.

  9. I’m actually looking forward to this. Never read any Guardians so it’ll be interesting. Bendis has been killing it with the X-Men, so I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt and pick this one up. McNiven on art certainly helps as well.

    • Came here to type exactly this. Decided to give this a try last minute whilst I was at the comic shop, going to give bendis a try based on his x-men stuff and this looks great

  10. We’re not going to see Charlie-27, Starhawk, or Yondu any time soon are we?

  11. Love McNiven but I was put off paying $3.99 (£3.50 here) for a 0.1 issue. If they’d just gone ahead and launched it properly I would probably would’ve grabbed a copy but I feel a bit weird about paying that much for a 0.1. I know there’s probably no difference but there’s something about it that annoys me.

  12. I realize some folks will be mad that this is, essentially, a reboot of Star-Lord and the Guardians. As a huge DnA fan, I have to say that this was good enough that I couldn’t care less. Can’t wait for more!

  13. I hope you hate 0 issues as much as you hate .1 issues cuz it is basically the same thing with a different indicator.

  14. Never read Guardians before but I’m on board for more after this issue.

  15. This was fun. Good art, story kept me interested. Not spectacular, but worth it I thought.

  16. Fun stuff, this. Even more excited for the series proper to start.

  17. As someone who has never read a Guardians book and is completely unfamiliar with any of these characters, I’m COMPLETELY hooked after this issue.

You can complain about the .1 gimmick, but what does it matter? This might as well have been #1 because I found it quite integral to the character’s motivation going forward. And a side note, they explain in the editor’s section that this was originally set to be an 8-page story in the Point One book, but Bendis decided to expand that because there was much to tell with this character.

McNiven’s art is amazing here. His realistic style makes all this space shit more believable.

I think this book will get a lot of curiosity buys from people like myself who want an introduction to the characters before the movie comes out.

  18. Excellent! This was great.

  19. Having bough Marvel Now! Point One and seen some previews I was annoyed when I finished reading when I discovered that I had already read all but two or 3 pages before picking this up. But I’m excited for the real #1 as long as there are no flashbacks to this issue.

  20. With the movie coming out and Bendis writing it, I figure I’d give a shot. Loving the story so far. I don’t know much about GoTG, but this is a good origin. Also the first few pages reminded me of the movie Looper kind of for some reason?

  21. Never read any Guardians of the Galaxy stuff, was always interested in the team though (especially rocket raccoon and star-lord). This is a great .1 issue and I’m on board for whatever comes next.

  22. This was only okay for me, I’m not sure what i was wanting from this but I didn’t get it whatever it was. I’ll stick with it for the first arc, I would really like to love this.
